Description

The Verus Engineering Slanted Hood Louver Kit is designed to improve engine bay cooling and aerodynamic efficiency by evacuating hot air and reducing pressure buildup underneath the hood. By allowing high-temperature air to escape the engine bay, the louvers help improve cooling stack efficiency, reduce underhood temperatures, and support the long-term reliability of underhood components.

The strategically positioned louvers can also provide a slight increase in front-end downforce by reducing pressure within the engine bay. Each kit includes a wicker for every louver, allowing airflow evacuation to be further optimized and improving the effectiveness of the hood vents.

During development, Verus Engineering specifically designed the system around the OEM hood rather than requiring a complete replacement hood. This approach retains the factory hood's structural skeleton, helping preserve the hood's original strength and shape over years of use.

The result is a purpose-built, tested hood louver system that combines improved cooling, pressure management, and aerodynamic performance while retaining the OEM hood structure. When installed on an OEM hood, the complete setup can weigh less than many carbon fiber replacement hoods.

Optional rain guard kits are also available for owners who want additional protection for engine bay components during wet weather.

Aerodynamic & Cooling Science

The Verus Engineering Slanted Hood Louver Kit was developed in response to real-world track-use cooling concerns. During hot summer track days, multiple enthusiasts experienced ignition coil failures that were believed to be associated with excessive underhood temperatures.

By providing a controlled exit path for hot air, the Verus Engineering hood louvers dramatically reduce underhood temperatures and the temperature of the air surrounding critical engine components such as the ignition coils.

The louvers also help reduce pressure buildup inside the engine bay, which can contribute to hood flutter at high speeds. Evacuating air from underneath the hood helps improve pressure management while providing the added benefit of a slight increase in front-end downforce.

For maximum louver effectiveness, Verus Engineering highly recommends using the included wickers. The wickers help improve the extraction of air through the louvers and enhance their ability to evacuate hot, high-pressure air from the engine bay.

Installation & Maintenance

The kit includes four cut templates to assist with accurately positioning and cutting the OEM hood for installation.

The louver assemblies use stainless steel flush clinch studs and serrated nuts, allowing the vents to be removed when necessary for cleaning or maintenance.

Because the system is designed around the OEM hood and retains its structural skeleton, the factory hood structure remains in place rather than being replaced by a complete aftermarket hood.

For owners who want additional protection from rain and water entering the engine bay, optional rain guard kits are available separately.
