Verus Engineering originally developed these wind deflectors after hearing repeated complaints from Porsche enthusiasts and experiencing the buffeting issue firsthand on track. The wind deflectors attach easily using 3M VHB double-sided tape, allowing for a simple installation without complicated modifications. Each unit is constructed from multiple pieces of pre-preg carbon fiber, bonded together and finished with an automotive high-gloss clear coat for a premium appearance.

During development, Verus Engineering utilized in-house vehicle scan data from its shop car to ensure accurate contouring around the Porsche's side mirror bases. CFD analysis was also performed to verify that the deflectors effectively address the wind buffeting while avoiding unnecessary drag or disruption to other aerodynamic components.

Aerodynamic Science

The wind buffeting experienced with the windows down is caused by airflow traveling around the Porsche's A-pillar and repeatedly attaching and detaching as it moves around the open windows. This unstable airflow creates pressure waves within the cabin, producing the loud, low-frequency booming sound commonly associated with driving a Porsche with the windows down.

The Verus Engineering Carbon Anti-Buffeting Wind Deflectors are designed to control this airflow and encourage it to detach more effectively as it travels around the open windows. By changing the way the airflow separates from the vehicle, the deflectors help eliminate the airflow behavior responsible for the unwanted cabin pressure waves and wind buffeting.

Verus Engineering also used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) during development to ensure the deflectors perform their intended function without creating excessive aerodynamic interaction that could negatively affect other components further downstream.
