Upgrade the performance of your BMW F9X M5 or M8 with the CarBahn Performance 777 HP Stage 1 Performance Controller. Designed for turbocharged BMW applications, this plug-and-play CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC) increases boost pressure to deliver increased horsepower and torque while providing selectable performance maps through a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone app.
The CarBahn Performance Controller allows you to select maps designed for different fuel octane levels, including 91, 93, and 100 octane, allowing the vehicle's performance setup to be matched to the available fuel. With the appropriate 100-octane map, the system is capable of producing up to 777 HP and 750 lb-ft of calculated flywheel torque based on CarBahn's stated testing.

CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC)
The CarBahn Performance Controller is a plug-and-play ECU performance solution designed to increase boost pressure in turbocharged vehicles for substantial increases in horsepower and torque. The CPC features selectable maps that can be controlled through a Bluetooth smartphone application.
The available maps are designed to accommodate different fuel octane levels for additional performance. Users can select between 91, 93, and 100 octane maps according to the fuel being used.
The required smartphone application is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
As with all CarBahn products, an optional powertrain warranty can be purchased.
If you choose to trade your CarBahn Performance Controller for software in the future, a $500 upgrade fee applies. If the optional warranty was purchased, it can be transferred to the software at no additional charge.
Doing It Yourself
CarBahn notes that there are now programs available that allow owners to tune their vehicles themselves. Many of these tools include preconfigured or canned programs. Tuning a high-output engine requires substantial knowledge and experience to extract additional power while minimizing the risk of engine damage.
Emissions Legality
CarBahn notes that removing the catalytic converters through the installation of downpipes provides a relatively small power increase compared with claims sometimes made about catalyst removal. CarBahn's testing indicates that the power gain is usually around 11 HP. Operating a vehicle without the required catalyst can make it difficult to pass emissions testing and is illegal where emissions regulations require the catalyst.
High Boost With a Stock Engine
CarBahn states that it has seen damaged engines resulting from excessive power increases on otherwise stock engines. Although modern engines are highly reliable, adding large turbochargers and water-methanol injection can increase the potential for engine damage when the setup is not properly engineered.
For the F9X platform, CarBahn states that the maximum safe power level on a stock engine is 800 lb-ft of flywheel torque. CarBahn also offers high-performance engines designed to handle higher power levels.

Warranty Information
Registration with CarBahn Autoworks at the time of purchase is required to maintain matching warranty coverage. CarBahn Autoworks reserves the right to deny warranty program enrollment under certain conditions. Customers with questions regarding warranty eligibility should contact CarBahn prior to purchase.
The warranty is valid on U.S. and Canadian specification vehicles only. If the vehicle is currently covered by the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty, CarBahn Autoworks' products are warranted for the remaining term of the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty.
The vehicle manufacturer's new car warranty is limited to 4 years or 50,000 miles, or 80,000 kilometers in Canada, commencing on the date of first retail sale or the date the vehicle is first placed into service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever occurs earlier.
CarBahn Autoworks warranties are transferable when ownership of the vehicle into which the CarBahn Autoworks products were originally installed is transferred. The warranty will, without charge for parts or labor, repair or replace the defective CarBahn Autoworks component(s), as well as any original vehicle manufacturer component(s) that may have been directly affected by a CarBahn Autoworks component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts.
The decision to repair or replace parts is at the sole discretion of CarBahn Autoworks. Parts for which replacements are supplied under this limited warranty become the property of CarBahn Autoworks. In all cases, a reasonable period must be allowed for warranty repairs to be completed.
If the vehicle is outside of the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty, CarBahn will, for two years from the original purchase date of the CarBahn product, repair or replace, at its sole discretion, any defective CarBahn component. This warranty does not include reimbursement for repairs to any original vehicle manufacturer component(s) that may have been affected by a CarBahn component.
Warranty Exclusions
Warranty exclusions include return shipping charges, towing charges, rental car fees, damage to a component or assembly resulting from installation of replacement parts with specifications that differ in any material respect from the original vehicle manufacturer's or CarBahn parts, damage resulting from unauthorized modification of a CarBahn part or assembly, and damage resulting from the use of other manufacturers' products in conjunction with CarBahn products or systems.
Warranty exclusions also include damage to the clutch caused by power shifting or abuse, brake rotor warping, friction materials, maintenance services, and maintenance replacement parts such as spark plugs, lubricants, fluids, engine tune-up parts, filters, coolant, and refrigerant.
Mechanical adjustments or repairs resulting from normal wear and tear, drive belts, light bulbs, damage caused by failure to perform maintenance services at the specified intervals or according to the instructions in the original vehicle manufacturer's owner's manual or CarBahn's product instructions are also excluded.
Additional exclusions include damage attributable to negligence or abuse, improper installation, improper treatment, or treatment contrary to the instructions in the original vehicle manufacturer's owner's manual or CarBahn's product instructions.
Engine damage resulting from alteration of CarBahn's original boost pressure, damage resulting from improper or contaminated fuel, damage resulting from corrosion caused by weak or improper coolant, and damage to a CarBahn component caused by a collision or improper collision damage repairs are excluded.
Vehicles operated in competitive events or subjected to aggressive track conditions are excluded, as are custom-designed competition parts, damages resulting from loss of time, inconvenience or loss of vehicle use, and damage resulting from environmental influences, flood, accidents, fire, or road salt corrosion.
Re-manufactured or refurbished products or components are also excluded from the standard coverage unless specifically identified as refurbished. Refurbished products are warranted only for the period specified for that particular product.
