Unlock additional horsepower and torque from your BMW F9X X3M or X4M with the CarBahn Performance 671 HP Stage 1 Performance Controller. Designed for S58-powered BMW X3 M and X4 M applications, this plug-and-play performance controller provides increased boost and selectable performance maps for different fuel octane levels.
The CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC) is an easy-to-install electronic control unit designed to significantly increase horsepower and torque on turbocharged vehicles. The Stage 1 controller uses selectable maps that can be accessed through a smartphone application via Bluetooth, allowing you to choose the appropriate calibration for 91, 93, or 100 octane fuel.
For Competition models, CarBahn's stated testing shows up to 671 HP and 666 lb-ft of flywheel torque on 100-octane fuel. The Stage 1 Performance Controller is self-installable and is designed as a plug-and-play upgrade for the specified BMW applications.

The Stage 1 Performance Controller package is priced at $1,000 and includes the following components:

CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC)
The CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC) is an easy-to-install electronic control unit (ECU) designed to significantly increase horsepower and torque in turbocharged vehicles. This plug-and-play unit provides selectable performance maps that can be accessed through a smartphone application via Bluetooth.
The smartphone application is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The selectable maps are designed to accommodate different fuel octane levels for additional performance. You can choose between 91, 93, and 100 Octane.
As with all CarBahn products, an optional powertrain warranty can be purchased. CarBahn offers an optional powertrain warranty for its products, including the CPC.
If you want to trade your CarBahn Performance Controller for software in the future, there is a $250 upgrade fee. If you purchased the warranty, it is transferable to the software at no additional charge.
Emissions Legality
CarBahn addresses the removal of the catalytic converter, commonly accomplished through the use of downpipes. CarBahn's testing involved consecutive dyno runs with and without the catalyst, with the observed power increase typically around 11 HP.
CarBahn also notes that obtaining the required emissions certification without a catalyst can be difficult and that removing the catalyst may be illegal depending on applicable emissions regulations.

Warranty Information
Registration with CarBahn at the time of purchase is required to maintain matching warranty coverage. CarBahn reserves the right to deny warranty program enrollment under certain conditions. Customers with questions regarding warranty eligibility should contact CarBahn before making a purchase.
The warranty is valid for U.S. and Canadian specification vehicles only. If the vehicle is currently covered by the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty, CarBahn products are warranted for the remaining term of the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty.
The manufacturer’s new car warranty is limited to 4 years or 50,000 miles, or 80,000 kilometers in Canada, beginning from the date of first retail sale or the date the vehicle is first placed in service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever is earlier.
CarBahn warranties are transferable when ownership of the vehicle into which the CarBahn products were originally installed is sold.
The warranty will repair or replace, without charge for parts or labor, defective CarBahn component(s), as well as any original vehicle manufacturer component(s) directly affected by a CarBahn component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts. The decision to repair or replace the affected parts is at the sole discretion of CarBahn.
Parts replaced under this limited warranty become the property of CarBahn. A reasonable period must be allowed for warranty repairs to be completed in all cases.
If the vehicle is outside of the vehicle manufacturer's new car limited warranty, CarBahn will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace any defective CarBahn component for two years from the original purchase date of the CarBahn product.
This warranty does not include reimbursement for repairs to any original vehicle manufacturer component(s) that may have been affected by a CarBahn component.
Warranty Exclusions
The following are not covered under the warranty: return shipping charges, towing charges, rental car fees, damage to a component or assembly due to the installation of replacement parts that materially differ from the original vehicle manufacturer or CarBahn parts, damage resulting from the unauthorized modification of a CarBahn part or assembly, and damage resulting from the use of other manufacturer products in conjunction with CarBahn products or systems.
Warranty exclusions also include damage to the clutch due to power shifting or abuse, brake rotor warp, friction materials, maintenance services, and parts replaced during maintenance such as spark plugs, lubricants, fluids, engine tune-up parts, replacement filters, coolant, and refrigerant.
Mechanical adjustments or repairs resulting from normal wear and tear, drive belts, light bulbs, and damage due to failure to perform maintenance services at the specified intervals or according to the instructions in the original vehicle manufacturer's owner's manual or CarBahn product instructions are excluded.
Additional exclusions include damage attributable to negligence or abuse, improper installation, improper treatment, or treatment contrary to the instructions in the original vehicle manufacturer's owner's manual or CarBahn product instructions.
Engine damage resulting from alteration of CarBahn's original boost pressure, damage resulting from improper or contaminated fuel, damage caused by corrosion resulting from weak or improper coolant, and damage to a CarBahn component resulting from a collision or improper collision damage repairs are excluded.
Vehicles operated in competitive events or subjected to aggressive track conditions are excluded, as are custom-designed competition parts, damages resulting from loss of time, inconvenience or loss of vehicle use, damage resulting from environmental influences, flood, accident, fire damage, or road salt corrosion.
Re-manufactured or refurbished products or components are also excluded unless clearly identified as refurbished. Such products are warranted for the specified period applicable to that particular product.
