The ACT Mod-Twin 225 XT Rigid Race Clutch Kit is engineered for high-powered BMW 3.0L turbo applications equipped with N54 and N55 engines. Designed for aggressive launches, rapid shifting, and demanding performance use, this 225mm twin-disc race clutch combines dual ceramic friction surfaces with a rigid Mono-Drive hub to provide exceptional torque capacity, heat resistance, and durability.
With a rated torque capacity of 1,270 ft-lbs, the ACT Mod-Twin 225 XT Rigid Race Clutch delivers a 314% increase in torque capacity over OE. Its twin-disc design provides twice the ceramic friction surface while maintaining a compact 225mm diameter, making it well suited for high-output BMW builds.
The puck-style ceramic friction plates provide a high coefficient of friction, excellent heat capacity, and long clutch life under demanding conditions. The friction plates transfer torque through a rigid Mono-Drive chrome-moly hub that is heat treated for increased strength and durability. The hub's continuous spline design helps extend input shaft life while the rigid construction supports fast, decisive gear changes.
Each diaphragm spring undergoes an exclusive four-stage heat-treating process, helping provide consistent performance and light pedal effort for a race-oriented twin-disc clutch. The forged aluminum cover, hardened wear points, premium friction materials, and precision-engineered components are designed to withstand repeated high-load operation.
The rigid configuration provides direct power transfer and quicker shifting but may produce moderate to increased transmission gear noise and start-off judder compared with a sprung-hub clutch. This makes the kit particularly appropriate for performance-oriented applications where direct engagement and rapid shifting are prioritized over OEM-like refinement.
The ACT Mod-Twin 225 XT Rigid Race Kit includes a CNC-machined and dynamically balanced flywheel, pressure plate cover, diaphragm spring, friction faces, puck-style ceramic friction plates, rigid Mono-Drive hub, floater, patented Monoloc Collar, release bearing, alignment tool, and pilot bearing when required.
The Mod-Twin platform is fully rebuildable, and many individual components can be ordered separately. ACT Mod-Twin clutches are 100% clamp-load tested, balanced, and SFI certified for demanding motorsport applications.
