The Verus Engineering UCW Swan Neck Rear Wing Kit for the Subaru WRX VB is a high-performance aerodynamic upgrade designed to significantly increase rear-end downforce, improve high-speed stability and driver confidence, increase cornering speed, and help reduce lap times. Designed specifically to mount to the factory trunk, the UCW provides substantial rear aerodynamic performance while maintaining a clean, integrated appearance.
The Swan Neck UCW was aesthetically modeled after the Subaru WRX competing at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, giving the VB WRX an aggressive motorsport-inspired appearance. The mounting system was FEA analyzed to ensure the required structural strength, while CFD analysis was used to properly position and develop the wing for effective airflow when installed on the vehicle.
The UCW airfoil is derived from the Verus Engineering V1X and was optimized using advanced aerodynamic analysis to maximize performance within the available design volume. Additional CFD analysis was performed to ensure the wing receives adequate airflow on the Subaru WRX VB and performs effectively in its intended operating range.
During development, Verus Engineering utilized in-house vehicle scan data to achieve a near-OEM fit and finish. The result is a purpose-built rear wing that complements the natural lines of the VB WRX while providing the substantial rear downforce required for serious track use.
The UCW is particularly well suited for track-focused Subaru WRX builds that require a significant increase in rear downforce to balance a substantial front aerodynamic package.

Swan Neck Aerodynamic Design
The Verus Engineering UCW Swan Neck Rear Wing was developed to provide substantial rear-end aerodynamic load while incorporating a motorsport-inspired swan neck mounting configuration.
The wing is capable of operating and generating downforce across an angle-of-attack range of 0 to 15 degrees. This adjustability allows the rear wing to be tuned according to the aerodynamic requirements of the vehicle and used to balance a variety of front aerodynamic packages.
The swan neck configuration positions the wing supports in a way that allows the wing element to maintain an effective aerodynamic profile while providing a distinctive motorsport appearance.
Aerodynamic Development
Verus Engineering optimized the UCW airfoil using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver to improve its aerodynamic performance within the available design volume. The airfoil itself is derived from the Verus Engineering V1X.
Additional CFD analysis was performed with the wing installed on the Subaru WRX VB to ensure the wing receives adequate airflow and performs effectively on the vehicle.
The UCW's aerodynamic development was validated through comparison between CFD results and real-world experimental testing. The strong correlation between the simulated and measured data supports the aerodynamic design approach and the wing's performance.
Structural Development
The Swan Neck UCW mounting system was FEA analyzed during development to ensure sufficient structural strength for the aerodynamic loads generated by the wing.

Construction

Stainless steel hardware is used throughout the installation. The kit also includes a trunk stop assembly and double-sided sealing tape for the trunk mounts.
