During development of the Verus Engineering Ventus 1 aerodynamic package, aerodynamic analysis was used to optimize the components for improved overall performance.
The Ventus 1 package was designed to decrease overall lift and reduce drag on the GR/GV WRX/STI while improving aerodynamic efficiency. The components work together to generate downforce with minimal additional drag.
The side splitters contribute to this package by helping retain high-pressure air on the upper side of the vehicle, which aids in downforce production.

The Street Side Splitters are part of the Verus Engineering Ventus 1 package for the GR/GV Subaru WRX/STI.
The Ventus 1 package is designed to improve the amount of performance available from the vehicle's tires during track driving while also providing benefits for daily driving. Verus Engineering states that the package can help improve gas mileage on a daily-driven vehicle while providing improved aerodynamic performance for weekend track use.
