Description
The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit for the non-GT specification Ford Mustang S550 is designed to reduce underhood heat and pressure while improving cooling efficiency, component longevity, and front-end aerodynamic performance.
By strategically evacuating hot air from the engine bay, the louvers improve cooling stack efficiency and help reduce temperatures around heat-sensitive components. Reducing pressure buildup beneath the hood also helps decrease the upward force acting on the hood, providing an increase in front-end downforce.
Optional wickers are included with every kit to further improve louver effectiveness. Verus Engineering also offers rain guards separately for owners who want additional protection from water entering through the hood vents.
During development, Verus Engineering chose to utilize the OEM S550 hood because of its lightweight construction and to provide an affordable solution for owners looking to vent their factory hood. The result is a purpose-built, tested louver system that weighs less than most carbon vented hoods while retaining the structural integrity of the OEM hood.

Aerodynamic Science
Verus Engineering utilized CFD analysis to identify low-pressure areas across the top surface of the S550 Mustang hood. Positioning the louvers within these areas maximizes the evacuation of hot air and pressure from the engine bay.
Reducing underhood pressure provides several benefits. Lower pressure beneath the hood reduces the upward force acting against the hood, helping increase front-end downforce and improve aerodynamic performance.
The louvers also evacuate hot air from the engine bay, improving airflow through the cooling system and increasing cooling stack efficiency. Lower temperatures around heat-sensitive components can also contribute to improved component longevity during demanding driving conditions.

Installation
The kit includes two cut-out templates and all necessary installation hardware. Stainless flush clinch studs and serrated nuts allow the louvers to be removed for cleaning or servicing.
