Description
The Verus Engineering High-Efficiency Rear Wing was developed from a clean-sheet design approach specifically for the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and Toyota GT86 chassis. Verus Engineering created its own aerodynamic airfoil profile using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver, allowing the wing to generate significant rear downforce while maintaining a high level of aerodynamic efficiency.
Designed for both track-day enthusiasts and street-driven performance builds, this rear wing focuses on increasing cornering performance without creating an excessive drag penalty. The result is a wing that can improve rear-end stability and corner speeds while helping preserve straight-line performance.
The wing uses a swan-neck mounting configuration to position the airfoil in cleaner, less disturbed airflow. Unlike conventional bottom-mounted rear wings, the swan-neck design allows airflow to reach the wing more efficiently, contributing to improved lift-to-drag performance.
With the naturally aspirated FA20 engine producing limited power in stock form, controlling drag is particularly important for the ZN6/ZC6 chassis. The High-Efficiency Rear Wing is therefore engineered to provide meaningful downforce without significantly sacrificing straight-line speed or overall efficiency.

Aerodynamic Science
The Verus Engineering High-Efficiency Rear Wing was designed specifically around the needs of the FT86 platform, where maintaining aerodynamic efficiency is important for both track performance and available engine power.
The wing's airfoil was developed using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver, allowing Verus Engineering to optimize the profile for improved lift-to-drag performance. The design goal was to generate meaningful rear downforce while keeping drag low enough to avoid a substantial reduction in straight-line speed.
The swan-neck mounting system helps place the wing element into cleaner airflow compared with conventional bottom-mounted designs. Cleaner airflow allows the airfoil to operate more efficiently and contributes to the wing's overall aerodynamic performance.
The wing uprights were also optimized using CFD and FEA. Their aerodynamic shape features a rounded leading edge and knife-edged trailing edge to reduce airflow disturbance while maintaining the structural strength required to support the wing's aerodynamic loads.
Trunk Mounting & Reinforcement
Verus Engineering positioned the wing mounts at strong locations on the OEM trunk and incorporated reinforcement components to help distribute the aerodynamic loads and reduce the risk of trunk damage.
The included stainless steel support plates and rear wing strengthening brackets work with the trunk mounting system to provide the necessary structural support for the wing.
CFD & Real-World Validation
Verus Engineering validated the High-Efficiency Rear Wing through both computational fluid dynamics and real-world experimental testing.
The development process first used CFD simulations to establish and optimize the wing's aerodynamic characteristics. Physical testing was then used to compare real-world performance against the simulation data.
According to Verus Engineering, the CFD results and experimental data showed strong correlation, validating the development methodology and demonstrating that the wing achieved the primary aerodynamic goals established during the design process.
Installation
The High-Efficiency Rear Wing is designed to bolt directly to the OEM trunk using the supplied mounting components, strengthening brackets, support plates, and stainless hardware.
The included hardware kit contains the necessary components for installation.
