Description

The Verus Engineering Front Splitter Kit for the Porsche 981 GT4 Cayman is engineered to generate substantial front-end downforce while maintaining an efficient aerodynamic profile. A properly designed front splitter creates a significant pressure differential between its upper and lower surfaces, increasing front-end aerodynamic load without requiring a large increase in drag.

Verus Engineering refined the splitter through an iterative design process, incorporating aerodynamic improvements to the underside of the splitter to optimize airflow in conjunction with the included carbon splitter diffusers.

The main splitter is manufactured from carbon thermoplastic, a high-performance material used in various forms of motorsports, including IndyCar, NASCAR, and Formula 1. Unlike traditional carbon fiber and ABS, the carbon thermoplastic construction is designed to resist cracking and breakage while providing high strength, low weight, and abrasion resistance. It also avoids the tendency of aluminum splitters to grab surfaces and bend underneath the vehicle.

The kit includes a pre-preg carbon fiber air dam, which is autoclave cured to reduce weight while increasing structural strength. The air dam helps bring the splitter flush with the vehicle's underbody, further improving airflow management and aerodynamic performance.

The splitter system is designed to handle 300+ lbs of load, making it suitable for high-downforce track applications and vehicles equipped with larger rear aerodynamic components.

Aerodynamic Science

A properly designed front splitter can significantly increase front-end grip by creating a pressure differential between the upper and lower surfaces of the splitter. The Verus Engineering front splitter for the Porsche 981 GT4 was developed using state-of-the-art aerodynamic analysis software and an iterative design process.

The splitter, air dam, and carbon splitter diffusers were developed as a combined aerodynamic system. Verus Engineering refined the underside of the splitter to improve airflow interaction with the splitter diffusers, allowing the system to extract additional aerodynamic performance from the available space.

The front splitter and dive planes were also properly sized to work with the rear wing and rear diffuser. This allows the overall aerodynamic package to maintain a safe and effective front-to-rear aero balance, rather than simply adding maximum downforce at one end of the vehicle.

Ventus 2 Aerodynamic Package

The Verus Engineering Front Splitter Kit is a core component of the Ventus 2 package for the Porsche 981 GT4.

The Ventus 2 package was developed to significantly increase aerodynamic performance over the factory 981 GT4 while maintaining a balanced and predictable setup for the typical track-day and HPDE enthusiast.

Verus Engineering's goal was not only to generate substantially more downforce, but also to retain practical street usability. The aerodynamic components were therefore designed with reasonable front splitter extension and rear wing dimensions, allowing the vehicle to remain suitable for both street driving and track use.

The front splitter works as part of the overall Ventus 2 aerodynamic system, complementing the rear wing, rear diffuser, and front dive planes to provide a balanced increase in vehicle downforce.

Installation

The Verus Engineering Front Splitter Kit is designed for a non-invasive installation using the supplied CNC-cut and bent aluminum brackets and stainless hardware.
