Description

The Verus Engineering Dual Element Dive Plane Kit for the Porsche 718 GT4 is designed to increase front-end downforce, improve front-end grip, and direct higher-pressure airflow toward the factory intake duct while keeping the increase in aerodynamic drag minimal.

Dive planes, also known as canards, allow the aerodynamic balance of the vehicle to be shifted forward without requiring a significantly larger front splitter. This makes them an effective solution for balancing the aerodynamic load generated by a large rear wing and diffuser while maintaining street-friendly ground clearance and usability.

The Porsche 718 GT4 dive planes were developed using CAD scan data and optimized through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in OpenFOAM. The resulting design provides a safe and effective aerodynamic balance both with and without the addition of a rear wing.

Each dive plane is constructed from 1.5mm thick, 2x2 twill pre-preg carbon fiber, autoclave cured and finished with an automotive-grade clear coat for a lightweight, durable, high-quality appearance.

Important: This kit is not compatible with the Porsche 718 GT4 RS.

Aerodynamic Science

Dive planes are an effective way to tune a vehicle's aerodynamic balance by shifting additional downforce toward the front axle. This allows the vehicle to achieve a more forward-biased aero balance without requiring a larger front splitter.

For a street-driven performance car, increasing the size and protrusion of the front splitter can make the vehicle more difficult to drive on public roads. Verus Engineering developed the dual dive plane system as a more street-friendly solution capable of generating additional front-end downforce while helping balance the large rear wing and diffuser used in the company's aerodynamic package.

The Dual Element Dive Plane Kit was specifically developed to work well with the Verus Engineering Ventus 1 Aero Kit for the Porsche 718 GT4, helping create a balanced aerodynamic package for both track and street use.

Intake Airflow Benefits

In addition to aerodynamic balance, the dive planes were developed to help feed the Porsche 718 GT4's intake ducts with clean, high-pressure air.

At higher vehicle speeds, increased pressure at the intake can potentially create a small supercharging effect by producing positive pressure within the intake manifold. This can contribute to improvements in horsepower and torque.

The design also helps ensure that the GT4 receives the coldest possible air at the intake filter, supporting efficient engine performance under high-speed driving conditions.

Installation

Installation is designed to be simple and non-invasive using the included 3M VHB double-sided tape. Dedicated installation templates are included to help position each dive plane accurately on the vehicle.
