Description
The Verus Engineering Carbon Rear Diffuser for the Porsche 981 Cayman is a functional aerodynamic upgrade designed to increase rear downforce while improving airflow efficiency underneath the vehicle. Properly designed rear diffusers can generate substantial aerodynamic performance without requiring excessive drag, making them an effective component for both street and track-focused builds.
Verus Engineering developed this rear diffuser using detailed vehicle scan data, CAD modeling, and ANSYS Fluent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The result is an aerodynamic assembly that combines functional performance with a clean, purpose-built appearance.
The diffuser features three primary planes constructed from 1.5mm thick 2x2 twill carbon fiber, which are autoclave cured for strength and durability. Durable polyurethane strakes control airflow through the diffuser and are designed to be replaceable for improved long-term serviceability.
The complete assembly mounts directly to existing chassis locations using CNC laser-cut and bent aluminum brackets. No drilling or fabrication is required for installation.
Installation Note: The outside strakes require slight trimming when installing the diffuser with the OEM Porsche 981 GT4 muffler.

Aerodynamic Science
The Verus Engineering rear diffuser was developed to maximize the available underbody space of the Porsche 981 Cayman while meeting specific aerodynamic performance targets.
A properly designed diffuser helps manage airflow exiting from underneath the vehicle. By controlling this airflow, the diffuser can contribute to increased rear downforce and improved aerodynamic efficiency.
The diffuser and Verus Engineering Flat Underbody Kit were designed to work together as part of the 981 Cayman rear aerodynamic package. When combined with the Verus Engineering Front Dive Plane Kit, the components form the foundation of the Ventus 1 aerodynamic package, providing a meaningful increase in downforce while maintaining a minimal increase in drag.
For the Ventus 2 package, the rear diffuser works in conjunction with the Verus Engineering front splitter and rear wing. This combination produces a significantly greater increase in overall downforce for more aggressive track-focused applications.
Modular Design
The rear diffuser is designed as part of a modular aerodynamic system. The diffuser can be paired with the optional Flat Underbody Cover to further improve underbody airflow management and aerodynamic performance.
The modular approach allows the Porsche 981 Cayman to be progressively developed into a more comprehensive aerodynamic package while maintaining compatibility between the major components.
Installation
The Verus Engineering Carbon Rear Diffuser is designed for a straightforward chassis-mounted installation.
The diffuser attaches to existing chassis locations using the supplied CNC-cut and bent 5052 aluminum brackets and stainless steel hardware. No drilling or fabrication is required.
When installing the diffuser with the OEM GT4 muffler, the outside strakes require slight trimming for clearance.
