The Verus Engineering Carbon Rear Diffuser for the Porsche 987 Cayman is a functional aerodynamic upgrade designed to increase rear downforce while minimizing unnecessary drag. Developed specifically for both the Porsche 987.1 and 987.2 Cayman, the diffuser combines motorsport-inspired engineering with a clean, chassis-integrated design.

Using detailed vehicle 3D scan data, CAD modeling, and ANSYS Fluent CFD analysis, Verus Engineering developed the rear diffuser to maximize the available underbody space while maintaining compatibility with the factory rear bumper lines. The result is an aerodynamic package that improves airflow beneath the vehicle while complementing the overall appearance of the Porsche 987 Cayman.

The three primary diffuser planes are constructed from 1.5mm thick, 2x2 twill carbon fiber that is autoclave cured for high strength and low weight. Durable polyurethane strakes provide long-lasting performance and can be replaced if necessary.

The complete assembly mounts to existing chassis locations using multiple CNC-formed aluminum brackets. No drilling, cutting, or fabrication is required, making the diffuser a straightforward bolt-on aerodynamic upgrade.

The modular design also allows the diffuser to be paired with the Verus Engineering Flat Underbody Cover Kit for additional underbody airflow management and improved aerodynamic performance.

Aerodynamic Science

A properly designed rear diffuser can generate significant aerodynamic downforce by managing airflow beneath the vehicle and allowing the underbody air to expand and recover pressure as it exits the car.

Verus Engineering designed the 987 Cayman rear diffuser and undertray system as an integrated part of the vehicle's overall aerodynamic package. The diffuser maximizes the usable underbody area to achieve specific aerodynamic performance targets while maintaining compatibility with the factory rear bumper lines.

As part of the Ventus 1 aerodynamic package, the rear diffuser works together with the Verus Engineering Front Dive Plane Kit to provide a meaningful increase in overall vehicle downforce with a minimal increase in drag.

For the more aggressive Ventus 2 package, the rear diffuser is combined with the Verus Engineering front splitter and rear wing. This configuration produces a significantly greater increase in downforce and is intended for more performance-focused applications.

Installation

The Verus Engineering Carbon Rear Diffuser is engineered as a direct bolt-on installation. The diffuser assembly attaches to existing chassis mounting locations using the supplied aluminum brackets and stainless hardware.
