Description

The Verus Engineering Carbon Radiator Duct Gurney for the Porsche 992 GT3 is designed to improve both front-end aerodynamic performance and cooling system efficiency. By creating a higher-pressure region in front of the radiator duct and a lower-pressure region behind the gurney, the system increases the pressure differential across the ducting and radiator.

The increased pressure differential helps improve airflow through the radiator, potentially increasing cooling system efficiency while also providing a slight increase in front-end downforce.

Verus Engineering developed these radiator gurney flaps using state-of-the-art aerodynamic analysis software and in-house vehicle scan data. The carbon components were specifically shaped to follow the factory Porsche radiator outlet ducts, maintaining an OEM-inspired appearance and precise fit.

During development, Verus Engineering used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate radiator airflow and ducting behavior. The radiator was modeled using porous-flow media derived from actual radiator performance testing, helping provide an accurate representation of real-world airflow behavior.

The gurneys are constructed from 2x2 twill 3K pre-preg carbon fiber, autoclave cured, and finished with a high-gloss automotive clear coat. Installation is simple and non-invasive using the included 3M double-sided foam tape.

Aerodynamic Science

The primary purpose of a radiator gurney flap is to create a lower-pressure region behind the radiator outlet, increasing the pressure differential across the radiator and improving airflow through the cooling system.

As air passes through the radiator, resistance to airflow can limit the amount of air moving through the cooling system. By reducing pressure downstream of the radiator duct, the gurney helps pull additional air through the radiator, increasing the flow rate and potentially improving cooling performance.

The Verus Engineering radiator gurney was developed to provide this airflow benefit while also generating a small amount of additional front-end downforce.

During the development process, Verus Engineering used CFD simulations to analyze radiator flow and ducting behavior. The radiator itself was modeled using porous-flow media based on actual radiator performance from previous testing, allowing the simulations to more accurately represent real-world radiator airflow.

The result is a component designed to be efficient, functional, and visually compatible with the factory Porsche radiator ducting.

Installation

Installation is simple and non-invasive. The radiator gurneys attach using the included 3M double-sided foam tape, eliminating the need for a complex installation process.
