Description
The Verus Engineering Bottom Mount UCW Rear Wing Kit for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 is a high-performance rear aerodynamic upgrade designed to significantly increase rear downforce, improve high-speed stability, increase driver confidence on track, and help reduce lap times.
The C8 Corvette is an exceptionally capable sports car, but additional aerodynamic development can unlock even greater performance on the track. The UCW Rear Wing is designed to provide a substantial increase in rear aerodynamic load while maintaining strong aerodynamic efficiency, making it an excellent choice for Corvette owners developing a balanced track-focused setup.
The UCW airfoil generates downforce by creating a low-pressure region on the underside of the wing, pulling the vehicle downward and increasing rear grip with a relatively small increase in drag.
Verus Engineering developed the UCW airfoil using ANSYS Adjoint Solver, CFD analysis, wind tunnel testing, and real-world testing. The airfoil was derived from the V1X platform and optimized within the available build volume to maximize aerodynamic performance.

Rear Downforce and Aerodynamic Performance
The Verus Engineering UCW Rear Wing is designed to create a low-pressure region beneath the wing element. This pressure differential generates significant rear downforce, increasing the aerodynamic load applied to the rear of the Corvette.
Additional rear downforce improves the tires' ability to maintain grip during high-speed cornering and braking, increasing driver confidence and helping the vehicle maintain stability at the limit.
The UCW was developed with aerodynamic efficiency in mind. Rather than simply maximizing downforce regardless of drag, Verus Engineering optimized the airfoil to provide an improved lift-to-drag ratio, delivering substantial aerodynamic load with a relatively small drag penalty.
CFD and Wind Tunnel Development
Verus Engineering used an extensive aerodynamic development process to optimize the UCW Rear Wing.
The airfoil was optimized using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver and further refined through rigorous CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing. CFD was also used to ensure that the wing receives adequate airflow when installed on the C8 Corvette.
The development process was supported by in-house vehicle scan data, allowing Verus Engineering to design the mounting system and wing placement around the actual geometry of the vehicle.
Real-world testing was then used to validate the CFD results. The strong correlation between the computational and experimental data confirmed that the wing achieved the primary aerodynamic targets established during development.
Bottom-Mount Design
The Bottom Mount UCW uses a purpose-built mounting system designed specifically around the C8 Corvette's engine cover.
The machined aluminum mounts span a large surface area and sandwich the engine cover between the upper and lower mounting components. This design provides the structural support necessary to handle the substantial aerodynamic loads generated by the wing.
The mounting system was also designed to minimize aerodynamic drawbacks. The uprights are positioned in an area already affected by airflow, helping reduce the aerodynamic penalty associated with the wing supports.
6061-T6 Aluminum Mounting System
The wing mounting system is manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum and machined in-house using 5-axis CNC equipment.
This precision-machined construction provides a high level of strength, rigidity, and fit while maintaining the clean appearance expected from a high-end motorsport-inspired aerodynamic component.
Carbon Fiber Wing Construction
The UCW Rear Wing is manufactured from 2x2 twill pre-preg carbon fiber.
The carbon fiber is autoclave cured and finished with an automotive high-gloss clear coat, providing a lightweight and durable construction with a premium visible carbon finish.
The included carbon fiber endplates complement the wing element and contribute to its overall aerodynamic performance and appearance.
Adjustable Aerodynamics
The UCW Rear Wing provides 15 degrees of adjustment, allowing the owner to fine-tune the aerodynamic balance of the vehicle according to the rest of the vehicle's setup and driving requirements.
Adjustability makes the wing suitable for a variety of front aerodynamic configurations. It can be used to help balance substantial front-end aero systems such as the Verus Engineering Front Splitter Kit.
Aerodynamic Balance
Adding significant rear downforce without addressing the front of the vehicle can create an aerodynamic imbalance.
The UCW Rear Wing was designed to work as part of a complete aerodynamic system, allowing it to be balanced with substantial front aerodynamic components.
As part of the Verus Engineering Ventus 2 Bottom Mount aerodynamic package, the UCW Rear Wing works with other aerodynamic components to significantly increase total vehicle downforce while maintaining a more predictable front-to-rear aerodynamic balance.
