Description
The Verus Engineering Swan Neck UCW Rear Wing Kit for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C8 is a high-performance aerodynamic upgrade designed to significantly increase rear downforce, improve high-speed stability, increase driver confidence on track, and help reduce lap times.
The C8 Corvette already delivers exceptional performance, but a properly engineered rear wing can provide a substantial increase in aerodynamic grip for track-focused driving. The UCW Swan Neck Rear Wing was specifically developed to generate significant rear downforce while maintaining excellent aerodynamic efficiency.
Unlike a conventional bottom-mounted wing, the Swan Neck UCW uses an upper-mounted upright configuration. This leaves more of the underside of the wing element exposed to clean airflow, allowing the low-pressure region beneath the wing to work more effectively. The result is improved wing efficiency and greater downforce with a reduced drag penalty compared with the bottom-mount configuration.
Verus Engineering developed the UCW airfoil using ANSYS Adjoint Solver optimization, CFD analysis, wind tunnel testing, and real-world testing. The airfoil is derived from the V1X platform and was optimized within the available build volume to maximize aerodynamic performance.

Swan Neck Aerodynamic Design
The primary advantage of the Verus Engineering Swan Neck UCW is its top-mounted upright configuration.
Traditional bottom-mounted rear wings place the mounting hardware underneath the wing element, which can disrupt airflow across the underside of the airfoil. Since the underside of the wing is responsible for generating a significant portion of the low-pressure region that produces downforce, airflow disruption in this area can reduce overall wing efficiency.
The Swan Neck design relocates the wing supports above the wing element. This leaves more of the underside exposed to clean airflow, allowing the airfoil to make greater use of its low-pressure region.
Verus Engineering developed the Swan Neck UCW to extract more aerodynamic performance while reducing the drag penalty compared with the Bottom Mount UCW configuration.
Rear Downforce and High-Speed Grip
The UCW airfoil generates downforce by creating a low-pressure region beneath the wing element. This aerodynamic load pushes the rear of the Corvette toward the track surface, increasing rear tire loading at speed.
Additional rear downforce can improve stability during high-speed cornering and braking while increasing driver confidence when approaching the limits of the vehicle.
With the ability to generate and withstand 500+ lbs of downforce, the UCW Swan Neck is designed for serious track-focused applications where substantial aerodynamic load is required.
CFD and Wind Tunnel Development
Verus Engineering used an extensive aerodynamic development process to optimize the UCW airfoil.
The wing was optimized using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver and refined through CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing. CFD was also used to verify that the wing receives adequate airflow when installed on the C8 Corvette.
In-house vehicle scan data was used during development to ensure the mounting system and wing placement were designed around the actual geometry of the vehicle.
The aerodynamic design was subsequently validated through real-world testing. The strong correlation between the CFD results and experimental data confirmed that the wing achieved the primary performance targets established during development.
Engine Cover Mounting System
The Swan Neck UCW uses a purpose-built mounting system designed specifically for the C8 Corvette's factory engine cover.
The machined aluminum mounting components span a large surface area and sandwich the engine cover between the upper and lower mounting supports. This creates a strong mounting structure capable of supporting the substantial aerodynamic loads generated by the wing.
The mounting system was also developed to minimize aerodynamic disruption. The uprights are positioned in an area where airflow is already disturbed, reducing the aerodynamic penalty associated with the mounting structure.
6061-T6 Machined Aluminum Construction
The mounting system is manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum and machined in-house using 5-axis CNC equipment.
This precision-machined construction provides high strength and rigidity while maintaining a clean, high-end appearance and precise fitment.
Carbon Fiber Wing Construction
The UCW Swan Neck wing element is manufactured from 2x2 twill pre-preg carbon fiber.
The carbon fiber construction is autoclave cured and finished with an automotive high-gloss clear coat for a premium appearance and durable finish.
The kit also includes vented carbon fiber rear wing endplates, complementing the visible carbon construction while supporting the wing's aerodynamic function.
Adjustable Aerodynamics
The UCW Swan Neck Rear Wing provides 15 degrees of adjustment, allowing the owner to fine-tune rear aerodynamic load according to the vehicle's setup and driving requirements.
This adjustment range allows the wing to work with different front aerodynamic configurations and helps the driver achieve the desired front-to-rear aerodynamic balance.
Aerodynamic Balance
A large rear wing should be matched with appropriate front-end aerodynamic load to maintain predictable vehicle balance.
The Swan Neck UCW was designed to work with significant front aerodynamic systems such as the Verus Engineering Front Splitter Kit. This allows the wing to become part of a coordinated front-to-rear aerodynamic package rather than functioning as an isolated component.
As part of the Verus Engineering Ventus 2 Swan Neck aerodynamic package, the UCW Rear Wing is designed to add substantial total vehicle downforce while helping maintain a balanced aerodynamic setup.
