Description
The Verus Engineering V1X Swan Neck Rear Wing Kit for the Mk5 Toyota Supra is a high-downforce aerodynamic upgrade designed to significantly increase rear-end downforce, improve driver confidence at speed, increase cornering capability, and help reduce lap times on the track. Engineered specifically around the factory Toyota Supra trunk, the V1X provides substantial aerodynamic performance while maintaining a near-OEM fit and finish.
The V1X rear wing is designed to bolt directly to the factory trunk and is engineered to handle significant aerodynamic loading. Its swan neck mounting configuration provides a strong and purpose-built mounting solution while positioning the wing for effective airflow and aerodynamic performance.
During development, Verus Engineering used state-of-the-art aerodynamic analysis software to optimize the wing's airfoil for performance. The airfoil was further evaluated through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to ensure that the wing receives adequate airflow when installed on the vehicle, performs effectively in its intended operating environment, and works cohesively with the front aerodynamic system.
The V1X was developed using in-house vehicle scan data, allowing Verus Engineering to achieve a near-OEM fit and finish. The result is a track-focused rear wing that integrates cleanly with the Mk5 Toyota Supra while providing a substantial increase in rear aerodynamic load.
The V1X is particularly well suited to track-focused Supra builds that require a significant increase in rear downforce to balance a high-downforce front aerodynamic package. The wing is capable of generating and withstanding 700+ lbs of downforce, making it suitable for serious track and HPDE applications.
The V1X can operate across a 0-15 degree angle of attack range, allowing the aerodynamic load generated by the wing to be adjusted to complement a variety of front aerodynamic configurations. This adjustability makes it possible to balance different levels of front-end downforce depending on the vehicle's overall aerodynamic setup.
The V1X rear wing is part of the Verus Engineering Ventus 5 Aerodynamics Kit for the Mk5 Toyota Supra. When combined with the appropriate front aerodynamic components, the Ventus 5 package is designed to add substantial downforce to the vehicle, helping increase cornering speed, improve stability, and reduce lap times.

Aerodynamic Engineering
The Verus Engineering V1X was specifically engineered for Mk5 Toyota Supra enthusiasts looking for a substantial increase in rear-end aerodynamic load. The wing was developed through a combination of advanced computational analysis and real-world testing to ensure that its performance translates effectively from simulation to the track.
The airfoil was optimized using the ANSYS Adjoint Solver, allowing Verus Engineering to improve the wing's aerodynamic efficiency while generating significant downforce. CFD analysis was then used to evaluate airflow over the vehicle and confirm that the wing would receive adequate air when installed on the factory trunk.
The V1X is capable of operating from 0 to 15 degrees of angle of attack, providing flexibility when setting up the vehicle's aerodynamic balance. This allows the rear wing to complement different front aero configurations rather than being limited to a single aerodynamic setup.
The wing was also designed to balance substantial front aerodynamic systems. This is especially important on track, where an improperly balanced aerodynamic package can negatively affect vehicle behavior and driver confidence.
Verus Engineering's CFD results correlated closely with its real-world experimental testing. The strong agreement between simulation and physical testing validated the aerodynamic development process and confirmed that the wing achieved the primary performance goals established during development.
Ventus 5 Aerodynamics Package
The V1X Rear Wing forms part of the Verus Engineering Ventus 5 Aerodynamics Kit developed for the Mk5 Toyota Supra. The Ventus 5 system is designed to significantly increase aerodynamic downforce across the vehicle while improving cornering performance and helping reduce lap times.
The V1X is particularly appropriate for vehicles equipped with substantial front aerodynamic components that require additional rear downforce to maintain aerodynamic balance.
Mounting & Trunk Support
The V1X is engineered to mount directly to the OEM trunk while incorporating machined billet aluminum mounting components and load-transferring trunk stops. The included trunk support plates help distribute aerodynamic loads through the mounting structure.
The kit includes a dedicated drill template to assist with accurate installation. The hard plastic trunk stops are also included as part of the mounting system.
Installation
The V1X rear wing is designed to bolt to the factory trunk and includes the hardware and installation components necessary for the installation. A drill template is included to assist with accurately locating the required mounting points.
Each V1X wing is assembled per order and typically ships within 5 business days of receipt of the order, unless otherwise specified.
Trunk Opening Consideration
Because the V1X is designed to handle substantial aerodynamic loading, Verus Engineering notes that additional trunk support may be beneficial if the factory trunk struggles to open or remain open with the wing installed. Upgraded hatch struts can help the trunk open more easily when required.
V1X Position Within the Verus Engineering Mk5 Supra Wing Lineup
As Verus Engineering progressed through the development of its Mk5 Toyota Supra aerodynamic products, the company developed three different rear wing designs, each offering different advantages for the platform.
There is no single wing that is objectively the best for every Mk5 Supra. Each design is intended to serve different aerodynamic requirements and driving applications. The V1X is specifically suited to enthusiasts who want a substantial increase in rear downforce and the ability to balance a significant front aerodynamic package.
The appropriate wing ultimately depends on the vehicle's overall aerodynamic configuration, intended use, and desired balance between downforce and efficiency.
