Description
The Verus Engineering Splitter Air Dam for the 2013–2016 Subaru BRZ is a simple bolt-on upgrade designed to improve the performance of a front splitter and create a more complete front aerodynamic system.
The air dam prevents high-pressure air from forcing its way between the front bumper and splitter. By controlling this airflow, the air dam helps maximize the pressure differential between the top and bottom surfaces of the splitter, increasing the amount of front-end downforce generated at speed.
The Verus Engineering Air Dam also helps bring the front splitter closer to a horizontal orientation relative to the road surface, further improving its aerodynamic effectiveness. Aerodynamic Science
A front splitter generates downforce by creating a pressure differential between its upper and lower surfaces. At speed, high-pressure air can attempt to travel underneath the splitter through the gap between the bumper and splitter, reducing the pressure differential and limiting aerodynamic performance.
The Verus Engineering Splitter Air Dam helps prevent this unwanted airflow. By restricting high-pressure air from entering the area between the bumper and splitter, the air dam allows the splitter to maintain a stronger pressure differential between its upper and lower surfaces.
This increased pressure differential helps generate more front-end downforce. The air dam also helps position the splitter more horizontally relative to the road, improving the splitter's ability to function effectively at speed.
