Description

The Verus Engineering N17 Hood Louver Kit is designed to reduce engine bay temperatures and underhood pressure by improving the evacuation of hot air from the engine compartment. By creating a more effective exit path for hot air, the louvers help improve airflow through the radiator and other cooling components, increasing overall cooling stack efficiency.

Reducing pressure buildup underneath the hood also helps decrease front-end aerodynamic lift, providing a slight increase in front-end downforce. This makes the N17 Hood Louver Kit a functional cooling and aerodynamic upgrade for vehicles used on both the street and track.

Using CFD analysis and vehicle scan data, Verus Engineering developed the N17 louvers to operate in a low-pressure area of the hood while following the OEM body lines. The design minimizes the amount of structural material removed from the factory hood, helping maintain hood rigidity while creating an integrated, purpose-built appearance.

Each kit includes wicker components designed to further improve the effectiveness of the louvers. Optional rain guards are also available for additional protection of engine bay components.

Aerodynamic & Cooling Science

The Verus Engineering N17 Hood Louver Kit was developed using CFD analysis to identify a low-pressure location on the hood where the louvers can operate most effectively.

Verus Engineering also utilized vehicle scan data during development to create a louver design that follows the OEM body lines while minimizing the amount of structural material removed from the hood. This helps preserve the hood's structural rigidity while allowing the louvers to integrate naturally into the overall hood design.

Turbocharged hatchbacks can experience significant underhood temperatures during demanding driving. The N17 louvers help evacuate hot air from the engine compartment while encouraging cooler air from the radiator and grille area to move through the cooling system.

This improves cooling stack efficiency by increasing the pressure differential between the front and rear sides of the cooling stack, allowing the radiator and other cooling components to operate more effectively.

The louvers also reduce pressure buildup underneath the hood. Lower underhood pressure reduces front-end aerodynamic lift, resulting in a slight increase in front-end downforce and improved aerodynamic performance at speed.

For maximum airflow evacuation, Verus Engineering recommends using the supplied wickers to further improve louver effectiveness.

Installation & Maintenance

The N17 Hood Louver Kit includes two cut templates to assist with accurately positioning and cutting the hood during installation.

The louver assemblies use stainless steel flush clinch studs and stainless serrated nuts, allowing the vents to be removed when necessary for cleaning and maintenance.

The design minimizes structural material removal from the OEM hood to help retain its factory rigidity and shape.

Optional Rain Guards

Verus Engineering offers optional rain guards for most hood louver applications. These can provide additional protection for engine bay components from direct water exposure while retaining the functional benefits of the hood louvers.
