Description
The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit for the Hyundai Veloster is designed to improve engine bay cooling while reducing underhood pressure and front-end aerodynamic lift.
By providing a controlled path for hot air to escape from the engine bay, the hood louvers improve airflow through the radiator and charge air cooler, helping increase overall cooling stack efficiency. Reducing pressure buildup underneath the hood also reduces front-end lift, providing a slight increase in front-end downforce.
During development, Verus Engineering utilized detailed vehicle scan data and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to determine optimal louver placement. The louvers are positioned in a low-pressure area of the hood to improve hot-air evacuation while following the factory hood contours.
The design also minimizes the amount of structural material that needs to be removed from the hood, helping retain structural rigidity while creating a clean, integrated appearance.
The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit is designed for Hyundai Veloster owners looking for a purpose-built, tested solution that improves both cooling performance and front-end aerodynamic efficiency.

How Hood Louvers Improve Cooling
Heat buildup inside the engine bay can become a significant issue, particularly on turbocharged hatchbacks operating under high load.
The Verus Engineering hood louvers provide a controlled exit path for hot air trapped inside the engine compartment. As hot air is evacuated through the louvers, cooler air can be drawn into the engine bay through the radiator and grille area.
This improves the pressure differential across the vehicle's cooling stack. By increasing the pressure difference between the air entering the radiator and charge air cooler and the air leaving them, the louvers help improve overall cooling stack efficiency.
Aerodynamic Science
Verus Engineering used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to identify a low-pressure region on the Hyundai Veloster hood. Positioning the louvers within this low-pressure area increases their effectiveness at evacuating air from the engine bay.
Reducing the pressure buildup underneath the hood also provides an aerodynamic benefit. Excess underhood pressure contributes to front-end lift, while lowering that pressure helps reduce lift at speed.
The result is a slight increase in front-end downforce, improving the aerodynamic behavior of the vehicle.
OEM-Inspired Design
The Hood Louver Kit was developed using detailed scan data of the factory hood.
This allowed Verus Engineering to design the louvers so they follow the existing OEM body lines rather than appearing as an externally added component. The design process also focused on minimizing the amount of structural material removed from the hood.
This helps maintain the hood's structural rigidity while integrating the louvers into the overall factory design.
Louver Wickers
Each kit includes left- and right-hand wickers designed to work with the hood louvers.
The wickers are included as part of the complete aerodynamic and airflow-management package, helping optimize the function of the louver system.
Serviceability & Cleaning
The hood louvers use stainless steel flush clinch studs and serrated nuts, allowing the vents to be securely mounted while remaining removable.
This makes it easier to remove the louvers when cleaning the vents or performing maintenance around the hood and engine bay.
Installation
The kit includes two cut templates to assist with accurately positioning and cutting the hood for installation.
The included stainless hardware provides a secure mounting solution, while the removable clinch-stud design allows the louvers to be taken out when necessary for cleaning or service.
