Description

The Verus Engineering Dive Plane (Canard) Kit for the 10th Generation Honda Civic Type R and Civic Si is designed to increase front-end downforce and improve aerodynamic balance without requiring the front splitter to be extended farther forward.

Dive planes provide an efficient way to add front-end aerodynamic performance within the available packaging space of the vehicle. Verus Engineering used advanced aerodynamic analysis software during development to extract additional performance from the available build volume, optimizing the dive plane shape to increase the downforce it generates.

The dive planes were developed using detailed vehicle scan data to achieve a precise fit and clean appearance on the Civic. Installation templates are included to help ensure proper positioning during installation.

This kit is particularly useful for vehicles equipped with larger rear aerodynamic components. By adding front-end downforce, the dive planes can shift the aerodynamic balance forward, helping balance the additional rear downforce produced by a larger rear wing or rear diffuser.

Aerodynamic Science

Properly designed dive planes can increase front-end grip and cornering speed by adding front-end downforce while helping reduce lift in other areas of the vehicle.

Verus Engineering developed this dive plane kit using OpenFOAM aerodynamic analysis software to optimize its shape and extract more performance from the available build volume on the vehicle. This allows the dive planes to generate additional aerodynamic performance without requiring the front splitter to extend farther forward.

The dive planes also help manage airflow around the front wheel well. By assisting with the evacuation of air from the wheel well and helping seal the sides of the vehicle, they contribute to improved airflow management around the front end.

One of the primary purposes of the kit is aerodynamic balance. When a vehicle is equipped with a larger rear wing or rear diffuser, the additional rear downforce can shift the vehicle's aerodynamic balance rearward. The Verus Engineering dive planes add front-end downforce to help move that balance forward and provide a more controlled aerodynamic setup.

Ventus 1 & Ventus 2 Compatibility

The Verus Engineering Dive Plane Kit is part of both the Ventus 1 and Ventus 2 aerodynamic packages for the Honda Civic Type R.

The Ventus 1 package is designed primarily for daily-driven vehicles. It provides an increase in downforce while maintaining a negligible increase in aerodynamic drag, making it well suited to street-driven vehicles that also see occasional spirited or track use.

The Ventus 2 package is developed with the track-focused driver in mind while remaining practical enough for street use. It provides a further increase in downforce with a small increase in drag compared with Ventus 1.

Both packages were developed to provide a safe and balanced aerodynamic setup at speed while improving vehicle handling and high-speed stability.

Installation

The Verus Engineering Dive Plane Kit is designed for a straightforward installation using the supplied 3M VHB double-sided tape or the included bolt-on hardware.

Two installation templates are included to help accurately position the left- and right-hand dive planes on the vehicle. The supplied stainless hardware provides an alternative mechanical mounting method for applications where a bolt-on installation is preferred.
