Monitor your ethanol content in real time and run E85 or ethanol-blended fuel with greater confidence using the BMS CANflex Flex Fuel Kit for compatible BMW G-Chassis vehicles equipped with Gen 3 B58 and B48 engines.
Designed as a complete plug-and-play flex fuel solution, the BMS CANflex kit allows you to accurately measure ethanol concentration without making permanent modifications to the vehicle's fuel system. Installation takes approximately 30 minutes on compatible applications. When returning the vehicle to its stock configuration, the CANflex system can be removed and the factory low-pressure fuel line reinstalled.
The system uses a genuine Continental® ethanol content sensor to measure the fuel mixture and communicates ethanol data through CANbus, Bluetooth, an integrated LED display, and a legacy 5V output. This makes the CANflex ECA a versatile solution for both current and future BMW tuning applications.
Real-Time Ethanol Content Monitoring
BMW engines can be sensitive to ethanol concentration, particularly when running E85 or varying ethanol blends. Knowing the actual ethanol content in the fuel allows compatible tuning systems to make more informed adjustments and helps prevent uncertainty when switching between different fuel blends.
The BMS CANflex ECA provides four ways to access ethanol content information:
- CANbus: User-selectable CANbus addressing for MHD, bootmod3 (BM3), EcuTek, and JB4 integration.
- Bluetooth: Monitor ethanol content using the free BMS CANflex mobile app on a compatible iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.
- Integrated LED display: View current ethanol content directly from the CANflex head unit.
- 5V output: Provides legacy support for older ECUs and non-CANbus JB4 applications.
Plug-and-Play OEM Integration
The CANflex kit is designed to connect to the vehicle's existing low-pressure fuel system without requiring permanent modifications. Installation involves removing the factory low-pressure fuel line in the engine bay and connecting the CANflex system using the included custom components.
The proprietary billet OEM-style fitting provides a clean integration point, while the stainless steel braided fuel line features protective black nylon sheathing to help prevent contact with surrounding engine-bay components.
When the system is no longer required, it can be removed and the original fuel line restored to its factory configuration.
Multiple Harness Options
The CANflex system is available with a plug-and-play harness or universal CANbus harness, depending on the application and tuning platform.
Important: Manual transmission vehicles and BM3 applications require the universal harness with posi-tap connections for CANbus integration.
The universal harness also provides flexibility for future flash-tuning integration as additional platforms support CANbus ethanol content data.

Port Injection Compatibility

The CANflex kit is designed for compatible BMW G-Chassis vehicles equipped with Gen 3 B58TU2 or B48 engines.
Compatible Gen 3 B58 platforms include:
- 2026+ BMW 430i – G22, including xDrive
- 2025+ BMW M340i – G20/G21, including xDrive
- 2022+ BMW 740i – G7X, including xDrive
- 2025+ BMW X5 50e – G05
Important: This kit is not intended for transversely mounted engines. Always verify the specific vehicle, engine, transmission, and tuning-platform compatibility before installation.
Gen 3 B58 / BX8 JB4 Configuration
For Gen 3 BX8 JB4 applications, connect the white or blue wire to position #16 on the JB4 25-pin harness. Select E85 Setup Option 1 to enable the Flex Input at pin location 16.
