Description

The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit for the Volkswagen Mk7 Golf R and GTI is designed to reduce engine bay heat and underhood pressure while improving the efficiency of the factory cooling system. By creating a controlled exit path for hot air from the engine bay, the louvers improve airflow through the radiator and charge air cooler, helping increase overall cooling stack efficiency.

The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit was developed using CFD analysis to identify a low-pressure location on the Mk7 Golf hood. Positioning the louvers in this area allows them to evacuate engine bay air more effectively.

The design process also incorporated detailed 3D scan data, allowing the louvers to follow the OEM hood's body lines while minimizing the amount of structural material removed during installation. This helps maintain the factory hood's structural rigidity while giving the louvers an integrated appearance.

Engine Bay Cooling

Turbocharged hatchbacks can experience significant heat buildup within the engine bay. The Verus Engineering louvers provide an effective path for hot air to escape while helping draw cooler air from the radiator and grille area.

This improves the pressure differential across the cooling stack, helping the radiator and charge air cooler operate more efficiently. Better airflow through the cooling stack can help improve thermal management during demanding driving conditions.

Front-End Aerodynamic Performance

In addition to improving cooling, the louvers provide an aerodynamic benefit by reducing pressure beneath the hood.

High underhood pressure contributes to front-end lift. By allowing this high-pressure air to escape through the strategically positioned louvers, the system reduces underhood pressure and therefore reduces front-end lift.

Installation & Maintenance

The kit includes two cut templates to assist with accurate louver placement and hood modification.

The stainless steel flush clinch studs and serrated nuts allow the louvers to be removed when necessary, making cleaning and maintenance easier.
