The Verus Engineering Hood Louver Kit for the Mazda MX-5 Miata ND is designed to reduce underhood heat and pressure while improving airflow through the radiator and condenser. Engineering & Aerodynamic Design
Verus Engineering used CFD analysis to position the hood louvers in a low-pressure area of the ND Miata hood, maximizing their ability to evacuate hot engine bay air. Vehicle scan data was also used during development to create a design that follows the OEM hood contours for an integrated appearance.
By evacuating hot air from the engine bay, the louvers increase the pressure differential across the radiator and condenser, helping improve cooling stack efficiency. The reduction in underhood pressure also decreases the upward force acting on the hood, reducing front-end lift and providing additional aerodynamic stability at speed.
The included wickers further help manage airflow around the louver openings, while the removable clinch-stud mounting system allows the vents to be easily removed when cleaning or servicing the vehicle.
