Description
The Verus Engineering Flat Underbody Panel Kit for the Mazda MX-5 Miata ND completes the underside of the vehicle by covering open areas in the factory underbody. The center section of the vehicle's underside can create significant aerodynamic drag due to exposed components and turbulent airflow. By filling these open areas with smooth underbody panels, the Verus Engineering kit helps reduce turbulence and improve overall aerodynamic efficiency.
Using state-of-the-art analysis software during the R&D process, Verus Engineering optimized the panels to extract more performance from the available space. The result is reduced drag and improved aerodynamic performance, with the potential for additional downforce when the vehicle is properly raked.
During development, Verus Engineering utilized in-house scan data to achieve a near-OEM fit and finish. The panels are designed specifically to complement the vehicle's aerodynamic system and help owners get more performance from their front splitter and rear diffuser.

Aerodynamic Science
The Verus Engineering Flat Underbody Panel Kit is designed to reduce aerodynamic drag by smoothing airflow through an otherwise open section of the ND Miata's underbody. The panels reduce turbulence and help create a cleaner airflow path underneath the vehicle.
Testing and aerodynamic analysis show that the ND Miata Flat Underbody Panel can reduce the vehicle's coefficient of drag (Cd) by 0.010, or 10 points. When the vehicle is properly raked, the flattened underbody can also contribute to increased downforce as the surface begins to function similarly to a diffuser.
Each panel incorporates a small wicker and dedicated cut-outs for exhaust and transmission heat extraction. These features help evacuate heat from the underside of the vehicle while maintaining the aerodynamic benefits of the flat underbody.
The panels are designed to work alongside the Verus Engineering front splitter and rear diffuser, helping create a more complete aerodynamic package for ND Miata owners focused on street and track performance.
