Description

The Verus Engineering Dive Plane (Canard) Kit for the Mazda MX-5 Miata ND is designed to increase front-end downforce and shift the vehicle's aerodynamic balance forward without requiring the front splitter to extend farther forward. This makes the dive planes an effective way to add front aerodynamic performance while maintaining a practical and balanced setup.

Using advanced aerodynamic analysis during development, Verus Engineering optimized the dive planes to extract additional performance from the available space. The unique body shape of the ND Miata also allowed the dive planes to help reduce a high-pressure zone located ahead of the rear wheels, providing an aerodynamic benefit beyond simply generating front downforce.

The dive planes help control airflow around the front wheel wells, assisting with wheel-well evacuation while helping seal the sides of the vehicle. This reduces lift and contributes to improved aerodynamic efficiency. Their placement also allows the aerodynamic balance of the vehicle to be shifted forward, making them particularly useful for balancing a larger rear aerodynamic component.

Verus Engineering used in-house vehicle scan data to develop the dive planes with a near-OE fit and finish. The components are manufactured from pre-preg, autoclave-cured carbon fiber and supplied with 3M VHB double-sided tape, installation templates, and the necessary hardware for installation.

The Verus Engineering Dive Plane Kit was designed to work as part of a complete ND Miata aerodynamic package, including a rear diffuser, street splitter, and side splitters. When used together, these components help create a balanced aerodynamic setup suitable for both track days and performance-oriented driving.
