Description

The Verus Engineering AOA (Angle of Attack) Adjustment Kit for the Honda Civic Type R FL5 is a functional aerodynamic upgrade designed to increase rear downforce from the factory Honda rear wing while retaining the OEM wing element, factory appearance, and OEM-style fit and feel.

The kit supplements the factory wing mounts and allows the OEM rear wing blade to operate at an increased angle of attack. By changing the wing's angle, the kit generates additional rear downforce and improves high-speed stability without requiring the installation of a larger aftermarket rear wing.

Verus Engineering developed the AOA Adjustment Kit using in-house vehicle scan data and advanced aerodynamic analysis. The mounting components were designed to follow the factory Honda Racing design language, providing an OEM-plus appearance while maintaining the clean integration of the factory wing.

The kit provides two angle-of-attack configurations: 0 degrees and 3.6 degrees. The 3.6-degree setting represents the maximum increase Verus Engineering determined to provide a worthwhile balance between additional downforce and aerodynamic efficiency. CFD analysis was used to identify the point where increasing the wing angle further would result in diminishing returns.

The AOA Adjustment Kit is particularly useful for drivers who want additional rear-end stability at higher speeds or feel that their FL5 could benefit from a slight increase in rear downforce. Increasing rear aerodynamic load can help settle the rear of the vehicle and improve driver confidence during high-speed driving and track use.

Aerodynamic Performance

The Verus Engineering AOA Adjustment Kit increases the angle of attack of the factory FL5 rear wing to generate additional rear downforce. A wing produces downforce by accelerating airflow beneath the wing element and creating a pressure difference between its upper and lower surfaces. Increasing the angle of attack increases this aerodynamic effect, allowing the OEM wing to produce more rear downforce.

Verus Engineering used CFD analysis to determine the useful operating range of the factory wing. The adjustment was limited to 3.6 degrees after identifying the point at which further increases would begin to provide diminishing aerodynamic returns.

The additional rear downforce is intended to improve high-speed stability and help settle the rear of the Civic Type R. This can be particularly beneficial for track drivers who want more confidence during high-speed cornering without replacing the factory wing with a substantially larger aerodynamic element.

Ventus 1 Aerodynamic Package

The Verus Engineering AOA Adjustment Kit forms part of the Ventus 1 aerodynamic package for the Honda Civic Type R FL5. It can be paired with Verus Engineering Dive Planes to create a more balanced front-and-rear aerodynamic setup.

The Dive Planes shift aerodynamic balance forward and add front-end grip, while the AOA Adjustment Kit increases rear downforce. Installation

The AOA Adjustment Kit is designed for a simple bolt-on installation using the factory rear wing. The supplied shims and mount covers allow the OEM wing to be configured for the desired angle of attack.

No replacement rear wing element is required. The kit supplements the factory wing mounting system while retaining the OEM wing and its overall appearance.
