In the crowded landscape of catch can setups for the MQB platform, many products claim to be the “ultimate” solution. However, none address both sides of the PCV system like the VTT COMPLETE Catch Can System. This system tackles both the LOW side (PCV) and the HIGH side (CCV), offering a truly comprehensive solution for your engine’s crankcase ventilation.
Understanding the PCV System
- LOW Side (PCV): Draws vacuum from the intake ports in the cylinder head, purging oil vapors and crankcase gases under idle, cruise, and engine braking conditions. When the engine transitions to boost, a check valve is actuated, and the LOW side stops functioning.
- HIGH Side (CCV): Uses the turbocharger's intake vacuum to purge oil vapors and crankcase gases under boost conditions. Both sides introduce oil into the intake, leading to carbon build-up and oil throughout the charge tract, respectively.
VTT COMPLETE Catch Can System
Unlike other market offerings that only focus on the HIGH side, the VTT COMPLETE Catch Can System addresses both the LOW and HIGH sides. Our system uses a custom PCV plate to separate and manage these functions effectively.
Key Features
- Custom PCV Plate: Organizes HIGH and LOW sides into short hose runs with strategically placed check valves. The PCV plate opening is baffled, filled with stainless mesh to knock down oil mist, ensuring no oil reaches the intake ports or turbocharger inlet.
- Optimized Hose Runs: Minimal hose length reduces vacuum drop and volume loss, ensuring efficient PCV operation. The catch can mounts over the cold side of the turbocharger against the firewall, with the longest hose run being just over 9”.
- High-Quality Components: Includes custom CNC aluminum banjo fittings, banjo bolts, and check valves fitted into banjo fittings. The -6 banjo fitting also serves as a boost tap for additional functionality.
- Crankcase Breather Compatibility: Works perfectly with the VTT Crankcase Breather, replacing the oil cap and providing additional venting under full boost without causing oil push-out.
