GSC S2 Camshafts – 5.0L Coyote Gen 3 (2018–2023 Mustang GT)
The GSC S2 Camshaft Set for the Gen 3 5.0L Coyote is engineered for builders who want the engine to live on the big end. Designed as an aggressive street/strip profile, the S2 cams prioritize high-RPM power, trap speed, and track performance while remaining compatible with OEM as-cast Gen 3 cylinder heads.
Compared to the S1, the S2 profile delivers stronger top-end power and a more aggressive character, carrying hard through the upper RPM range with peak output around 8,100 RPM and a usable powerband extending to 8,500 RPM. These cams are intended for performance-focused builds where outright numbers matter more than daily commuting manners.
High-RPM Power by Design
GSC models every S2 cam profile using real Gen 3 port flow data and factory rocker geometry to ensure stable valve motion at elevated engine speeds. The result is a camshaft that comes alive around 5,800 RPM and continues to pull cleanly well past where milder profiles fall off. Tuners typically retain Variable Cam Timing (VCT) within a tighter phasing window to maintain stability and maximize high-RPM efficiency.
Direct Injection Compatibility Preserved
Despite its aggressive nature, the S2 camshaft set retains OEM direct-injection high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) lobe geometry. Stroke and timing are unchanged from stock, ensuring proper pump operation and compatibility with factory and most upgraded DI fuel pumps—critical for high-RPM Gen 3 Coyote reliability.
Built for Abuse
Each camshaft is forged from U.S.-sourced bearing-grade steel, CNC-machined to tighter-than-OEM tolerances, and finished with BLACK ISE surface treatment for reduced friction and extended service life. These cams ship ready to install and are built to survive sustained high-RPM operation in demanding street/strip environments.
