Description
The GSC S1 Camshafts are the ultimate "no-compromise" upgrade for the 2024–2026 Ford Mustang 5.0L Coyote (Gen 4). Engineered specifically for the daily driver that doubles as a weekend warrior, the S1 profile is designed to "fatten" the area under the power curve. Unlike peak-heavy race cams, these focus on midrange punch and a broad, usable powerband while maintaining civil street manners.
Modelled against real-world Gen 4 port behavior and rocker geometry, these cams are CNC-machined from U.S.-sourced forged billet blanks and finished with GSC’s proprietary BLACK ISE surface treatment for reduced friction and superior longevity.
The "Sweet Spot" Performance
-
Effective RPM Band: 5,000–7,700 RPM (with a ~7,500 RPM horsepower peak).
-
Versatile Fueling: Optimized for everything from standard pump gas to high-output E85 and E90 ethanol blends.
-
Road Course Ready: Delivers the crisp throttle response and high-exit speed required for N/A road course builds without the "lazy" low-end often associated with aggressive cams.
Engineering & Manufacturing Highlights
-
Drop-In Convenience: Designed to work perfectly with stock (as-cast) cylinder heads.
-
Valve Spring Flexibility: * N/A & Supercharged: OEM springs are sufficient for up to an 8,200 RPM redline.
-
Turbocharged: High-backpressure setups should be paired with a GSC valve spring and titanium retainer upgrade.
-
-
DI/HPFP Compatibility: The high-pressure fuel pump lobe maintains OEM specifications, ensuring proper stroke and timing for the factory Direct Injection system.
-
VCT-Friendly: Full compatibility with Variable Cam Timing (VCT) allows tuners to retain a smooth idle and factory-like drivability.
Fitment & Installation Notes
-
Vehicle Application: 2024, 2025, and 2026 Mustang GT (5.0L) and Mustang Dark Horse.
-
Tuning Required: A custom ECU calibration is mandatory to maximize performance gains and ensure street drivability.
-
Piston-to-Valve Clearance: Profile events are engineered to maintain safe clearance with OEM pistons and deck heights throughout the full phaser range.
-
Maintenance Recommendation: For engines with over 40,000 miles, GSC suggests installing new valve springs alongside the camshafts to ensure valvetrain stability.
-
Origin: MADE IN THE USA from U.S. billet blanks.
Note: For forced induction setups, specifically turbocharging, please consult the GSC install sheet for recommended spring rates and titanium retainer pairings to prevent valve float under high boost.
