Description

The Evolution Racewerks Sports Series High Flow Catted Primary Downpipes are engineered to dramatically improve exhaust flow, turbocharger efficiency, and overall performance on the twin-turbo BMW S63M engine. Designed specifically for the 2019–2023 X5M and 2020–2023 X6M, these downpipes replace the restrictive factory primary catalytic converters with a high-flow 200-cell metallic catalyst that reduces backpressure while maintaining emissions functionality.

Each downpipe is manufactured in-house in the USA with premium materials and precision fabrication. The high-flow design improves turbo spool, increases torque earlier in the powerband, and supports higher peak horsepower. With mandrel-bent stainless piping and CNC-machined flanges, these downpipes deliver optimal flow characteristics while maintaining perfect fitment with factory or aftermarket exhaust systems.

Fitment Information

Direct fit for the following S63M-equipped vehicles:

  • BMW X5M (F95): 2019–2023
  • BMW X6M (F96): 2020–2023

Replaces the factory primary catalytic converters.

Compatible with factory or aftermarket secondary downpipes.

Performance Benefits

The factory primary catalytic converters on the S63M engine use dense ceramic substrates that create significant exhaust restriction. Exhaust gases must pass through tight honeycomb structures that reduce velocity, increase backpressure, and cause turbulence. This restriction limits power potential and slows turbo response.

Evolution Racewerks resolves this with a 200-cell metallic catalyst, which offers substantially larger flow channels while maintaining catalytic functionality. Metallic substrates withstand higher temperatures, last longer, and are lighter than factory ceramic designs. The lower cell count enhances flow, providing:

  • Faster turbo spool
  • Reduced lag
  • Improved throttle response
  • Higher horsepower and torque potential across the entire rpm range

Construction Quality

Each Sports Series High Flow Catted Primary Downpipe is crafted from 100 percent 304 stainless steel, including the piping, flanges, and fittings. Mandrel bending ensures consistent internal diameter for uninterrupted flow, while TIG welding provides strong, clean joints built to withstand high heat and repeated thermal cycling.

The factory-style 3.5-inch V-band flange is CNC machined from billet stainless steel for perfect sealing and alignment. O2 sensor bungs and brackets are also CNC machined and TIG welded for precision. The downpipes arrive in a brushed finish, with optional mirror polish and ceramic thermal coating for enhanced performance and appearance.

Optional Ceramic Thermal Coating

The available high-temperature ceramic coating helps retain heat within the exhaust stream, reducing underhood temperatures and maintaining higher exhaust gas energy for improved flow. Benefits include:

  • Lower underhood heat levels
  • Faster exhaust gas velocity
  • Reduced backpressure
  • Improved component longevity
  • Additional corrosion resistance

This coating withstands temperatures up to 2000°F and is offered exclusively in black.
