Constructed from high-grade titanium, the system is engineered to combine premium lightweight construction with a carefully tuned exhaust configuration. Equal Length & Single Midpipe Hybrid Design
The S55's factory-style exhaust configuration is known for producing a distinctive uneven or "two-three-cylinder" exhaust character. This is associated with the unequal exhaust path lengths between the two cylinder banks before the exhaust gases are combined.
The equal-length section is designed to balance the exhaust path lengths before the two banks merge. By synchronizing the exhaust paths more effectively, the system is designed to produce a smoother and higher-pitched exhaust character, helping the S55 sound more like a traditional straight-six engine.
Traditional equal-length configurations, particularly certain stainless-steel and non-resonated setups, can produce unwanted rasp in the 2,000–2,500 RPM range. The DCE Parts hybrid system incorporates resonators to help address this characteristic.
Integrated Resonators
The equal-length section features resonators designed to reduce unwanted rasp and harsh frequencies while maintaining the desired higher-pitched exhaust character.
This allows the system to retain the exciting sound characteristics of an equal-length S55 exhaust while providing a more controlled and refined exhaust tone.
2-Into-1 Single Midpipe
Following the equal-length section, the system incorporates a large 2-into-1 single midpipe that allows both exhaust banks to merge through a shared midpipe.
The single midpipe configuration is designed to introduce deeper and fuller lower-RPM tones into the exhaust note. While a single midpipe can emphasize deeper frequencies, the DCE Parts hybrid configuration combines it with the equal-length section to maintain more of the higher-pitched characteristics associated with the S55's straight-six architecture.
The result is a hybrid exhaust design intended to balance high-pitched upper-range sound with deeper bass at lower engine speeds.
Titanium Construction
