Description
CarBahn Performance 754 HP Stage 2 Software is engineered for BMW G8X M3 and M4 Competition models equipped with automatic transmissions. Designed for the S58-powered platform, this advanced ECU calibration is developed to increase horsepower and torque while maintaining critical factory safety protections and optimizing power delivery across different fuel octane levels.
The Stage 2 software produces up to 735 HP and 668 lb-ft of torque on 93-octane fuel, with output increasing to 754 HP and 679 lb-ft of torque on 100-octane fuel. Performance varies by drivetrain configuration, with separate calibration results provided for Competition RWD and Competition xDrive models.
CarBahn EVO Intelligent software is designed to adapt to a broad range of fuel octanes. The software uses retuning techniques while retaining critical safety features and adding additional protection where necessary. This allows the calibration to adapt from 93 to 100 octane without requiring a separate custom tune specifically for race fuel.
The software also removes the factory top-speed governor and is designed around a controlled torque curve rather than excessive low-RPM torque. By managing torque delivery, CarBahn aims to improve drivability while reducing unnecessary tire slip, engine stress, and drivetrain loads.
This software was developed with the CarBahn heat exchanger installed to achieve the claimed power output, and the heat exchanger is required for the matching factory warranty.

CarBahn EVO Intelligent Software Philosophy
CarBahn's EVO Intelligent software is designed to adapt to a broad range of fuel octanes while maintaining critical safety features. Through its calibration strategy, the software adapts from 93 to 100 octane without requiring a separate custom tune for race gas.
The software is designed to provide optimized performance without excessive tuning. CarBahn's approach focuses on creating a natural and controlled torque curve rather than producing excessive torque at low RPM. This approach is intended to reduce tire slippage, engine stress, and drivetrain failures while improving drivability, speed, and reliability.
CarBahn states that its calibration strategy avoids compromising knock sensitivity and thermal protections that help safeguard the engine from potential damage associated with extreme power extraction.
Durability
CarBahn software maintains key safety parameters within the OEM software rather than eliminating them in pursuit of additional power. These parameters include knock control sensitivity, super-knocking control sensitivity, and catalyst thermal protection.
According to CarBahn, its development process has minimized power losses associated with maintaining these software protections to approximately 12 HP. CarBahn states that it has observed damaged engines resulting from reductions to these safety parameters and considers the relatively small potential power gain insufficient to justify compromising these protections.
Do-It-Yourself Tuning Approach
Self-tuning tools have become increasingly available in the automotive market, allowing vehicle owners to tune their vehicles independently. CarBahn emphasizes that some self-tuning tools use preset programs that bypass certain safety limits, potentially increasing the risk of engine damage.
CarBahn's approach is based on the position that tuning a high-output engine requires extensive knowledge and experience to achieve increased performance while maintaining engine protection and structural integrity.
Emissions Legality
CarBahn discusses catalyst removal, commonly associated with aftermarket downpipes, as part of its emissions considerations. During its testing, CarBahn conducted consecutive dyno runs with and without the catalyst and states that the observed power increase was significantly smaller than commonly claimed, typically around 11 HP.
CarBahn also emphasizes the importance of environmental responsibility and states that obtaining the necessary emissions certifications without a catalyst is difficult and that catalyst removal is considered an emissions-related legal infringement.
