BMW turbo motors are known to suffer from oil control problems that cause oil to blow through and coat the intercooler and charge piping, leading to gunk buildup on intake valves and the VANOS system. This can lower effective octane and degrade engine performance, especially at higher boost levels. The BMS Turbo Double Baffle Oil Catch Can is a high-performance solution that prevents oil from entering the air intake system.
Unlike other catch cans on the market, the BMS oil catch can is designed specifically for the N20/N26 BMW application. The kit is CNC-machined with zero welding, ensuring a precise fit and long-lasting durability. The kit includes hoses that exceed OEM PCV piping in diameter, allowing for proper PCV ventilation and preventing internal motor and ring sealing issues. The BMS OCC retains the factory fully closed loop PCV operation, preventing any PCV vapor from leaking to the atmosphere.
Other catch cans may be mounted on the hot/turbo side of the motor, preventing proper vapor condensation. Some use hoses that are too small or runs that are too long, causing internal motor/ring sealing issues. Others have insufficient or no internal baffle system, while some have internal baffles systems that are too restrictive. Most are simply repackaged oil catch cans from smaller, lower-power motors shoehorned into place in the turbo BMW engine bay.
