PureTurbos Performance Turbo Upgrades | BMW, Supra & More
1st Oct 2026
There is a point in almost every turbocharged performance build where the factory turbocharger becomes the limiting component.
An intake can improve airflow. An upgraded exhaust can reduce restriction. Fueling can be addressed. The vehicle can be professionally tuned. But once the factory turbo reaches the limits of its compressor and turbine, adding more boost is no longer the same as making more usable power.
That is where an upgraded turbocharger from PureTurbos can take a build to the next level.
PureTurbos develops upgraded turbochargers for a wide range of performance platforms, with applications covering BMW, Toyota, Porsche, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, McLaren, and more. The current Extreme Power House catalog includes everything from replacement turbochargers and moderate upgrades to high-output Pure800, Pure900, Pure1000, and larger configurations.

Upgrade the Turbo, Not the Entire Vehicle
One of the advantages of an application-specific turbo upgrade is that it can be developed around the vehicle's existing engine and turbocharger architecture.
Rather than starting from a completely custom turbo installation, PureTurbos offers numerous upgraded units designed around specific engines and chassis.
Depending on the application, PureTurbos products can feature upgraded compressor and turbine components, upgraded bearing assemblies, high-speed balancing, and purpose-built housings.
For example, the BMW B58 Gen 1 Pure900 uses a new aftermarket housing based on the OEM design, an upgraded billet compressor wheel, a larger turbine wheel, an upgraded bearing housing, and VSR high-speed balancing. The product is designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade for the applicable B58 Gen 1 platforms.
BMW B58 Turbo Upgrades
The BMW B58 is one of the most extensively supported platforms in the PureTurbos lineup.
XPH carries PureTurbos upgrades for both B58 Gen 1 and B58 Gen 2 applications, including Pure600, Pure650, Pure800, and Pure900 configurations.
B58 Gen 1
The first-generation B58 turbo upgrades cover BMW applications from the earlier F-series and G-series era.
The Pure600 is designed as a direct replacement for 2016–2019 BMW models equipped with the 3.0L B58 Gen 1 engine and is positioned as an upgrade for enthusiasts targeting more than 550 WHP with the appropriate supporting setup and calibration.
The Pure800 takes the Gen 1 platform further, with a new aftermarket housing based on OEM design specifications and an upgraded turbocharger assembly intended for significantly higher power targets.
For even greater airflow capacity, XPH also carries the Pure900 B58 Gen 1, which PureTurbos states can support 800+ WHP when combined with the appropriate fuel, tuning, and supporting modifications.
B58 Gen 2
The second-generation B58, commonly associated with newer G-series BMWs and the A90/A91 Toyota GR Supra, has its own PureTurbos lineup.
XPH currently carries Pure650, Pure800, and Pure900 upgrades for B58 Gen 2 applications.
The Pure650, for example, is designed around the B58 Gen 2/TU1 engine and is listed for applications including the BMW M340i, M440i, M240i, Z4 M40i, 540i, X3/X4 M40i, X5/X6/X7 xDrive40i, and Toyota GR Supra.
The Pure800 offers a larger step toward higher-output builds, while the Pure900 is available for enthusiasts pushing the B58 platform substantially beyond factory turbocharger capabilities.
Toyota GR Supra Turbo Upgrades
The Toyota GR Supra A90/A91 shares the B58 architecture with BMW, making it another major PureTurbos application.
XPH carries multiple PureTurbos upgrades specifically for the Toyota GR Supra, including:
- Pure650
- Pure800
- Pure900
These products give A90/A91 owners several upgrade levels depending on the intended build and power target.
The Pure650, for example, is currently listed by PureTurbos for 2020–2026 Toyota GR Supra A90/A91 applications.
The GR Supra therefore provides an excellent example of why turbo selection should be based on the complete build rather than simply choosing the largest available turbocharger.
BMW S55 Turbo Upgrades
PureTurbos also has extensive coverage for the BMW S55, the twin-turbocharged engine used in the F80 M3, F82 M4, F87 M2 Competition, and related applications.
XPH currently carries several S55 configurations, including:
- Pure700
- Pure800
- Pure1000
- Pure Stage 2+
- OEM Replacement Turbocharger
The available options allow S55 owners to choose between replacement units and substantially upgraded turbo configurations depending on the intended application.
For a street-focused build, the appropriate turbo configuration may be very different from what makes sense for a high-output drag or track-oriented project.
BMW S58 Turbo Upgrades
The S58-powered BMW M lineup is also represented in the PureTurbos catalog.
XPH carries the Pure S58 Stage 2+ Turbo Upgrade, along with an OEM Replacement Turbocharger for the BMW S58.
These applications cover the modern generation of BMW M performance vehicles built around the S58, making PureTurbos relevant to enthusiasts looking to move beyond the factory turbochargers while maintaining an application-specific approach.
BMW S63 and N63 Turbo Upgrades
For BMW's larger-displacement V8 turbo platforms, PureTurbos offers several upgrade configurations.
The XPH catalog includes:
- S63TU F9X M5/M8 Pure900
- S63TU F9X M5/M8 OEM Replacement Turbocharger
- S63/S63TU F1X/F8X Pure Stage 2
- N63/N63TU Stage 2 Upgrade Turbos
These applications cover high-performance BMW platforms where increased turbocharger flow can become especially relevant when the engine is being built for substantially more power.
BMW N55 and N54 Turbo Upgrades
PureTurbos also supports earlier BMW turbocharged six-cylinder platforms.
For the BMW N55, XPH carries both Pure500 and Pure750 turbo upgrades.
For the BMW N54, available options include:
- N54 Pure Stage 1
- N54 Pure600
These products provide owners of older BMW turbo platforms with a path toward upgraded turbocharger performance without abandoning the original engine platform.
BMW B46/B48 Turbo Upgrades
The four-cylinder BMW turbo platform is not overlooked.
PureTurbos offers a BMW B46/B48 Pure Stage 2 upgrade, providing an option for enthusiasts looking to increase turbocharger capability on the smaller-displacement BMW engines.
As with the B58 and other platforms, the appropriate turbo upgrade depends on the vehicle's existing hardware, fueling, tuning strategy, and intended power level.
More Than BMW
Although BMW applications make up a significant portion of the PureTurbos catalog, the brand's turbocharger range extends well beyond BMW.
XPH currently carries PureTurbos products for platforms including:
- Toyota
- Porsche
- Nissan
- Mitsubishi
- Hyundai
- Kia
- McLaren
- Dodge
This includes everything from the Toyota GR Corolla / GR Yaris Pure550 to Nissan GT-R R35 Pure1000, Mitsubishi Evo X Pure600, Hyundai Veloster N Pure400, and Kia Stinger Pure Upgrade Turbos.
Porsche Turbo Upgrades
PureTurbos has a particularly broad Porsche selection.
The XPH catalog includes upgraded turbochargers for multiple Porsche generations and engines, including:
- 718 Cayman 2.5L Pure600
- 991.1 Pure850
- 991.2 Pure850
- 991.2 3.0L Pure800
- 991.2 Turbo S Pure850
- 992 3.0L Pure800
- 992 Turbo S Pure1000
- 997.1 Pure850
- 997.2 Pure850
- Cayenne/Panamera Pure850
This makes PureTurbos an option for Porsche owners across several generations and powertrains.
Turbo Upgrades for the Nissan GT-R
The R35 Nissan GT-R is another platform supported by PureTurbos.
XPH carries the Pure1000 Turbo Upgrade for the R35, targeting enthusiasts looking for substantially greater turbocharger capability from the VR38-powered platform.
As with all high-output turbo upgrades, the turbocharger itself is only one part of the overall system. Fuel delivery, engine management, exhaust flow, cooling, transmission capability, and calibration all need to be considered when developing the complete build.
Toyota GR Corolla and GR Yaris
PureTurbos also offers the Pure550 for the Toyota GR Corolla and GR Yaris.
This gives owners of Toyota's modern turbocharged three-cylinder performance platforms an application-specific turbo upgrade option rather than requiring a completely custom turbocharger installation.
Choosing the Right Turbo Upgrade
A larger turbocharger is not automatically the right turbocharger.
The correct choice depends on what the vehicle is being built to accomplish.
Important considerations include:
- Power target: Determine how much power the build is actually intended to produce.
- Turbo response: A turbo optimized for maximum peak power may behave differently from a smaller upgrade designed to retain stronger response.
- Fuel system: Higher power levels can require substantially more fuel capacity.
- Engine hardware: The engine itself must be capable of handling the intended output.
- Cooling: Increased power and boost can increase thermal demands.
- Exhaust and intake flow: Supporting airflow components can affect the turbo's ability to achieve its intended performance.
- ECU calibration: An upgraded turbo requires appropriate tuning. PureTurbos specifically notes that custom tuning is required for products such as the B58 Gen 1 Pure900.
The goal should be to select a turbo that matches the entire combination rather than choosing solely based on the highest advertised power number.
Direct-Fit Performance Upgrades
Many PureTurbos products are designed around the factory turbocharger location and architecture.
For example, the B58 Gen 1 Pure900 uses a new aftermarket housing with an OEM design and is described as a direct bolt-on application. The B58 Gen 2 Pure650 similarly uses an application-specific design with a high-flow inlet included.
This approach can make an upgraded turbo a much more straightforward step within an existing performance build than starting from a fully custom turbo system.
However, direct-fit does not mean that the turbo can be installed and operated without considering the rest of the vehicle. Appropriate tuning and supporting modifications remain essential.
Match the Turbo to the Build
The biggest advantage of having multiple PureTurbos configurations available is the ability to choose according to the actual goals of the vehicle.
A B58 owner may choose a Pure600 for a moderate upgrade, move to a Pure800 for a more aggressive setup, or choose a Pure900 when the rest of the build is capable of supporting substantially greater airflow.
The same principle applies across the S55, S58, N55, Porsche, Supra, GT-R, and other applications.
The turbocharger should be one part of a complete performance strategy.
