The intercooler features CFD-designed free-flowing end tanks that optimize airflow through the core while maintaining efficient pressure flow characteristics. Constructed from lightweight aluminum, this high-performance front mount intercooler weighs approximately 15 pounds while offering significantly improved cooling capacity compared to the factory plastic unit.
The Steeda modular design allows compatibility across multiple Ford Fusion EcoBoost applications. Since factory temperature sensor locations can vary depending on engine configuration, the intercooler includes cast mounting bosses on both ends along with a CNC-machined billet block-off plug to accommodate different factory sensor locations.
The factory intercooler is suitable for normal daily driving, but additional modifications, increased boost pressure, and aggressive driving conditions can exceed the limits of the OEM plastic cooler.
