The SPOOL Stage 3 LPFP Kit is engineered to install directly into the factory fuel tank assembly without requiring drilling or cutting of the factory fuel bucket. Its proprietary three-piece mounting bracket system secures the auxiliary pump directly into the factory fuel tank, providing a secure, drop-in mounting solution while avoiding permanent modifications to the fuel bucket.

Vehicle-Specific Mounting Bracket

BMW uses different fuel tank configurations across G-chassis models. To ensure the correct installation hardware is supplied, please provide your vehicle's year, make, model, or VIN when ordering.

The mounting bracket shown in the product images may differ from the bracket supplied with your specific vehicle. Bracket design may vary according to fuel tank configuration, while functionality, fitment, and performance remain the same.

Plug-and-Play Fuel System Upgrade

The SPOOL Stage 3 LPFP Kit is designed for a simplified installation without modifying the factory fuel bucket. The proprietary three-piece bracket locks directly into the factory fuel tank assembly, allowing the auxiliary fuel pump to be installed as a drop-in solution.

The included fuel hoses and fittings connect the auxiliary pump to the factory fuel system by teeing into the existing fuel line. This design helps make the installation straightforward for experienced DIY enthusiasts and professional performance shops.

Harness Options

The SPOOL Stage 3 LPFP Kit offers three harness configurations to accommodate different fuel-control setups.

SPOOL Hobbs Switch Harness

The Hobbs Switch Harness uses the included 10 PSI Hobbs pressure switch to activate the secondary fuel pump under boost.

The Hobbs switch can be connected by:

• Tapping into the charge pipe
• Using the optional fitting to tee into the intake manifold

The harness connects directly to the battery for power and ground, routes to the auxiliary fuel pump, and continues into the engine bay for connection to the Hobbs pressure switch.

This configuration is an ideal option for customers who are not using a Reflex controller and want boost-based activation of the auxiliary fuel pump.

Reflex Plug-and-Play Harness

The Reflex Plug-and-Play Harness is designed for Reflex-controlled applications requiring both power and ground to activate the auxiliary fuel pump.

Depending on the existing Reflex harness configuration, the connector may require depinning and swapping the power and ground wires. This is a straightforward procedure that can be performed by a knowledgeable performance shop.

The harness routes from the battery to the auxiliary pump and connects directly to Auxiliary Output 2 on the aftermarket Reflex harness.

Reflex Flying Lead / Ground Trigger / Universal Harness

The Reflex Flying Lead / Ground Trigger / Universal Harness is designed for customers using the standard Motiv Reflex main harness and is the most popular harness configuration.

The auxiliary fuel pump is activated through a ground trigger using Auxiliary Output 2. Installation involves stripping the gray Aux 2 wire, connecting it with the supplied butt connector, and plugging the connector into the harness.

This setup eliminates the need to source additional terminals or fabricate a custom connector, helping simplify installation and reduce potential wiring problems caused by incorrect connector pinning.

Fuel Pump Options

Walbro 450

The Walbro 450 is recommended for the majority of street, drag racing, and high-performance applications. It provides increased fuel-flow capacity for a wide range of performance builds while maintaining a reliable fuel-pump solution.

Walbro 525

The Walbro 525 is designed for higher-horsepower applications requiring additional fuel-flow capacity.

Due to its higher current draw, SPOOL strongly recommends pairing the Walbro 525 with the PWM Harness. Using a standard relay harness with a Walbro 525, particularly in hot climates, can place excessive load on the relay and potentially result in premature relay damage.
