How It Works:
Unlike traditional air-to-air intercoolers, the BMW B48 and B58 engines use a water-cooled charge air system. The coolant is circulated through a separate water circuit and cooled by a front-mounted radiator (heat exchanger). While this design offers excellent efficiency, the OEM system’s small capacity (7.7L) can heat up quickly and take time to cool down. The Mosselman Heat Exchanger solves this by increasing capacity to 17L, maintaining lower charge temperatures for longer periods and allowing the system to recover faster from heat build-up.
