GSC R2 Camshafts – 5.0L Coyote Gen 3 (2018–2023 Mustang GT)
The GSC R2 Camshaft Set for the Gen 3 5.0L Coyote is purpose-built for ported-head, track-focused engines that demand maximum airflow utilization and sustained high-RPM performance. This is a true race-oriented profile, engineered for high-flow cylinder heads and aggressive combinations that spend their life at the top of the tach.
Designed to pull hard through a wide 5,800–8,500 RPM powerband with peak output around 8,100 RPM, the R2 profile delivers strong area under the curve while maintaining stability at elevated engine speeds. Compared to S1 and S2 profiles, the R2 is optimized specifically for ported Gen 3 heads, where increased airflow can be fully exploited.
Engineered for High-Flow Combinations
Every R2 cam profile is modeled using real ported Gen 3 head flow data and factory rocker geometry to ensure precise valve motion in high-lift, high-RPM environments. The result is a camshaft that supports serious track use—road course, drag, or competition builds—where power delivery above midrange is critical and drivability takes a back seat to outright performance.
Variable Cam Timing (VCT) remains compatible, though tuners typically manage cam phasing within a tighter window to optimize stability and maximize usable power at high RPM.
Direct Injection Compatibility Retained
Despite its race-focused intent, the R2 camshaft set preserves OEM high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) lobe geometry. Stroke and timing remain unchanged, ensuring reliable operation of factory and most upgraded direct injection fuel pumps—an essential consideration for high-output Gen 3 Coyote builds.

Each camshaft is forged from U.S.-sourced bearing-grade steel, CNC-machined to tighter-than-OEM tolerances, and finished with BLACK ISE surface treatment to reduce friction and extend service life under extreme conditions.
