These GiroDisc rear rotors are designed for S650 Mustang models equipped with the 355mm rear iron brake system, including the Mustang GT with the Performance Package, Dark Horse, and Dark Horse SC models without the optional carbon-ceramic brake system.
High-Performance 2-Piece Construction
The GiroDisc rotor rings are manufactured from a proprietary high-carbon iron casting formulated specifically for high-performance braking applications. This specialized material provides improved resistance to heat and repeated heavy braking, making the rotors suitable for both high-performance street driving and track use.
The 48 curved cooling vanes are designed to act as a centrifugal pump, drawing air through the center of the rotor and directing it through the internal vanes. This helps improve airflow and heat dissipation, reducing thermal stress during repeated hard braking.
The fully floating 2-piece design separates the iron rotor ring from the lightweight aluminum hat. This construction helps reduce rotating and unsprung mass while allowing the rotor ring to expand naturally as temperatures increase.
Lightweight 6061-T6 Aluminum Hats
Each rotor uses a reusable 6061-T6 aluminum hat finished with a black anodized coating for durability and corrosion resistance. When the rotor rings reach their service limit, the reusable hats can be transferred to new replacement rings.
The drive pins are manufactured from a high-strength steel alloy and cadmium plated for corrosion resistance. Spring clips and spring washers secure the floating assembly, allowing controlled rotor movement for high-performance use while maintaining quiet operation suitable for street driving.

GiroDisc manufactures the major components of these rotors in-house at its facility in Bellingham, Washington. The rotor rings, aluminum hats, and drive pins are produced using domestically sourced materials and assembled to GiroDisc specifications.

Replacement Rotor Rings
The reusable aluminum hats can be transferred to replacement rotor rings when the original rings reach their service limit.
GiroDisc recommends replacing the rotor rings when they reach the specified minimum thickness or if a crack develops that extends to the edge of the rotor ring.
