Description

The Evolution Racewerks Sports Series High Flow Catted Downpipe is engineered to increase performance and flow efficiency on the 2025+ BMW M5 G90 equipped with the twin-turbo S68 engine. By replacing the restrictive factory primary catalytic converter with a high-flow 200-cell metallic catalyst and removing the secondary catalytic converters, this downpipe delivers improved horsepower potential, quicker turbo response, and reduced exhaust backpressure.

Constructed in-house in the USA from 304 stainless steel, this downpipe features mandrel-bent 3-inch tubing, CNC-machined 3.5-inch V-band flanges, factory-style slip-on connections, and OEM-positioned O2 sensor ports. The result is a durable, precise, bolt-on upgrade that maintains proper fitment while dramatically improving exhaust efficiency.

Performance Benefits

Factory downpipes use dense ceramic honeycomb catalyst structures that significantly restrict exhaust flow. As exhaust gases are forced through these tight passages, turbulence and backpressure increase, slowing turbocharger response and limiting horsepower potential.

The Evolution Racewerks 200-cell metallic catalyst greatly reduces restriction by using fewer, larger cells per square inch. This increases exhaust velocity, lowers backpressure, and allows the turbochargers to spool faster. Metallic catalyst construction also offers higher heat tolerance, longer lifespan, and reduced weight compared to the OEM ceramic design.

Benefits include:

  • Increased horsepower potential
  • Stronger and faster torque delivery
  • Faster turbo spool and sharper throttle response
  • Reduced exhaust restriction and turbulence
  • Lower backpressure and improved flow

Construction Quality

The downpipe is built from 100 percent 304 stainless steel, mandrel-bent for consistent flow, and TIG-welded throughout by Evolution Racewerks’ in-house fabricators. The 3.5-inch billet stainless turbo V-band flange is CNC-machined to match OEM geometry. Laser-cut brackets and CNC-machined O2 bungs are TIG-welded using stainless steel rods, and all O2 sensor locations match factory placement. Installation is fully bolt-on.

A brushed stainless finish is standard.

Catalytic Converter Configuration

The BMW G90 M5 uses two primary and two secondary catalytic converters, for a total of four.
This Sports Series High Flow Catted Downpipe:

  • Replaces the primary catalytic converter with a high-flow metallic unit
  • Deletes the secondary catalytic converters

Ceramic Thermal Coating Option

The optional ceramic thermal coating:

  • Reduces radiant heat transfer under the hood
  • Helps maintain higher exhaust gas energy and velocity
  • Reduces backpressure
  • Provides additional corrosion resistance
  • Withstands temperatures up to 2000°F

This coating is available in black only due to thermal durability requirements.
