Performance and Cooling Advantages
The Evolution Racewerks Competition Series FMIC uses a dense bar-and-plate core proven to cool intake air temperatures to near-ambient levels. Extensive testing confirms resistance to heat soak under demanding conditions such as road racing, high-boost applications, and extended full-throttle operation.
The thicker 3-inch core provides efficient cooling without blocking the entire radiator face, maintaining proper engine coolant temperature. This design also prevents airflow inefficiencies found in taller, thinner intercoolers while supporting horsepower levels beyond 600 hp.
Because OEM intercooler piping becomes a restriction at high airflow speeds, Evolution Racewerks includes fully redesigned hard piping that shortens routing, reduces bends, improves response, and lowers pressure drop. The piping diameters were selected using airflow and velocity calculations to ensure maximum performance across the powerband.
Construction and Durability
The Competition Series FMIC is engineered with durability and long-term reliability as top priorities. Every intercooler and pipe is TIG-welded, pressure-tested, and fitted to original mounting components during quality control inspection. The optional Type III hard anodizing increases toughness and reduces fin damage from debris without compromising thermal performance.
The required relocation of the OEM power steering cooler is addressed with Evolution Racewerks’ included external cooler kit. This replacement cooler provides significantly better cooling efficiency and helps prevent premature power steering pump failure.
