Description

The Eventuri Black Carbon Intake System for the Mercedes-AMG G63 (W465) is a complete, ground-up redesign of the factory intake system, engineered to deliver measurable airflow gains, improved turbocharger efficiency, and a striking visual transformation of the engine bay. Designed and manufactured by Eventuri, this system replaces the restrictive OEM intake architecture with high-volume carbon fiber airboxes optimized specifically for the W465 platform.

Constructed from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber, the dual airbox assemblies are designed to fully utilize the available space under the hood while retaining the factory cold air feeds to ensure consistent intake air temperatures. By significantly increasing internal volume and refining the airflow path, Eventuri achieved approximately 25% greater airflow compared to the OEM airboxes.

The increased airbox volume and smoother internal transitions reduce airflow resistance at the turbo inlets, allowing the turbochargers to operate more efficiently with reduced wastegate duty cycle. This results in sharper throttle response, stronger mid-range pull, and a more pronounced induction sound under load.

To accommodate the larger intake assemblies, Eventuri developed a bespoke carbon fiber engine cover. Manufactured from pre-preg carbon fiber and featuring a distinctive red Kevlar center section with herringbone carbon weave, the new cover provides the required clearance while delivering a premium, motorsport-inspired aesthetic.

Airbox Assemblies

The Eventuri system features dual airbox assemblies with a two-piece upper and lower design, separated by bespoke high-flow panel filters. Each airbox is shaped to maximize internal volume while maintaining a direct and unobstructed airflow path to the turbocharger inlets.

Due to the compact layout of the G63 engine bay, Eventuri focused on increasing internal height where possible. The most significant airflow gains were achieved by enlarging the upper airbox lids, creating smoother transitions from the filters to the turbo inlets and substantially increasing total flow capacity.

Each airbox incorporates multiple CNC-machined components and precision mounting brackets to ensure OEM-level fitment and stability. Integrated breather modules are positioned immediately before the outlets and are precision-machined to accept the factory breather connections. The airbox bases feature machined mounting points designed to seat securely into the OEM rubber grommets on both sides.

OEM vs Eventuri Airbox Design

The factory intake system relies on a long, narrow flexible duct feeding into a compact airbox, which limits internal volume and airflow capacity while presenting air unevenly to the filter surface.

Eventuri integrates the majority of the cold air feed directly into the airbox base, allowing for a significantly larger internal volume and a more organic airflow path that exposes the filter more evenly.

The OEM airbox positions the filter panel very close to the turbo inlet, forcing airflow through a tight rectangular-to-circular transition. This creates stagnant zones across the filter surface and increases airflow resistance.

By lowering the filter position and increasing transition space, the Eventuri design improves filter utilization, reduces turbulence, and minimizes drag on the turbochargers, resulting in more efficient airflow delivery.

Carbon Fiber Engine Cover

Maximizing intake volume required a redesigned engine cover, as the factory cover sits too close to the OEM intake system. The Eventuri engine cover provides the necessary clearance for the larger airboxes while enhancing the engine bay with a premium carbon fiber construction and Kevlar center section.

Custom High-Flow Panel Filters

Eventuri developed bespoke high-flow dry panel filters specifically for this intake system. These filters use a multi-layer dry filtration medium to provide effective particle capture while maintaining high airflow rates.

The curved filter profile eliminates sharp internal corners within the airbox, helping reduce turbulence and maintain smooth, consistent airflow to the turbochargers.
