Description
Upgrade the exhaust flow and turbocharger response of your BMW N55-powered vehicle with the DCE Parts Performance Downpipe, designed for BMW applications equipped with a Pneumatic Wastegate (PWG) turbocharger.
The larger-diameter downpipe reduces exhaust back pressure, allowing the turbocharger to spool more quickly and begin building boost at lower engine speeds. It can also help the turbocharger recover and build boost more rapidly following gear changes, improving throttle response and overall engine performance.
When installed on its own, the downpipe typically provides an estimated gain of approximately 15 HP and 25 Nm, although actual results can vary depending on the vehicle, engine configuration, software, supporting modifications, and operating conditions.
Installing the DCE Parts downpipe can also produce a more aggressive and pronounced exhaust note, giving the vehicle an enhanced performance-oriented sound.
ECU Tuning Required
For proper operation and optimal power output, the vehicle will require ECU remapping/tuning to accommodate the downpipe configuration, particularly when using the catless version. Proper calibration is important to account for the increased exhaust flow and changes to the vehicle's emissions equipment.
The catless downpipe is intended for off-road, race, or motorsport use only and is not suitable for public-road use where prohibited by applicable emissions regulations.
Downpipe Options
DCE Parts offers several configuration options for its downpipes, allowing the exhaust system to be specified according to the desired configuration and appearance.
- Full Straight Decat
- Catalytic Converter Look with an empty catalyst housing
- High-Flow Catalytic Converter
The Catalytic Converter Look option provides the external appearance of a conventional catalytic converter while remaining internally catless. This configuration is intended to provide an OE-style/catted appearance while maintaining the increased exhaust flow and enhanced sound associated with a catless downpipe.
The DCE Parts downpipe can also be equipped with a High-Flow Catalytic Converter for customers requiring a catted configuration.
Performance & Sound
The DCE Parts N55 downpipe is designed to provide both performance and sound improvements. The increased exhaust flow can reduce back pressure, improve turbocharger spool characteristics, and contribute to faster boost response.
The downpipe also produces a more aggressive exhaust sound compared with the factory configuration, making it suitable for performance-oriented builds.
