The CTS Turbo Direct Fit Front-Mount Intercooler (FMIC) Kit is designed as a drop-in replacement for the factory front-mounted intercooler on compatible Volkswagen and Audi 2.0T EA113 and EA888.1 engines. Engineered for MK5 and MK6 platform vehicles, this high-performance intercooler improves charge-air cooling and reduces pressure drop, making it an excellent upgrade for tuned and higher-boost applications.
The factory intercooler can adequately handle stock boost levels, but ECU tuning, performance software, and increased boost can push the OEM system beyond its effective cooling capacity. Elevated charge-air temperatures can contribute to boost cut and ignition timing pull, reducing engine performance and power output.
The CTS Turbo Direct Fit FMIC features a high-efficiency bar-and-plate intercooler core designed to improve heat dissipation while minimizing pressure drop. Lower pressure drop allows the turbocharger to reach the desired boost pressure more efficiently, reducing the additional workload required to compensate for intercooler restrictions.
For example, if a turbocharger produces 30 psi of boost pressure and the intercooler creates a 10 psi pressure drop, the boost pressure measured downstream would be approximately 20 psi. With a more efficient intercooler, pressure losses are reduced, allowing the turbocharger to operate more efficiently. This can help support turbocharger longevity and deliver cooler, denser compressed air for improved engine performance.
Designed to retain the factory mounting points, this direct-fit intercooler kit installs without requiring bumper trimming or crash-support modifications. It includes four-ply silicone hoses, a billet adapter for the turbo outlet pipe, and high-quality stainless-steel clamps for a secure installation. The cast-aluminum end tanks feature mounting points cast directly into the tanks rather than welded on, providing an integrated mounting design.
Rated for power levels exceeding 600 horsepower, the CTS Turbo FMIC is a performance upgrade for compatible Volkswagen and Audi 2.0T applications, particularly vehicles equipped with ECU tuning or other modifications that increase boost pressure.

Audi TT vehicles equipped with a Gen 2 valve-lift engine require the specified MK6 GTI turbo outlet pipe and clip. Verify engine type, drivetrain, and required components before ordering.
