Description
Upgrade the charge-air cooling system on your Ferrari 488, 488 Pista, 488 Pista Spider, F8 Tributo, or F8 Spider with the CSF Twin Intercooler Set featuring Thermal Black Heat Dispersion Coating. Developed by CSF in collaboration with PWR and tested with leading performance tuning specialists, this high-performance intercooler system is engineered to address the elevated Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) and heat soak associated with the Ferrari F154 twin-turbocharged 3.9L V8.
The Ferrari 488/Pista/F8 platform has significant tuning potential through increased boost levels, but additional boost also generates substantially more heat. Factory intercoolers can experience heat soak during hard driving, causing elevated IATs that can result in the ECU pulling ignition timing and reducing power. The CSF by PWR intercoolers are designed to efficiently control charge-air temperatures, reduce heat soak, and maintain more consistent performance during demanding street, high-performance, and race conditions.
This intercooler system utilizes Formula 1 performance-grade PWR cores featuring two rows of rolled cooling tubes with internal fins. PWR manufactures similar core technology for the majority of Formula 1 race teams, providing an ultra-efficient solution within the size limitations of a true OEM-style drop-in intercooler.
The intercoolers feature 100% TIG-welded CNC-machined billet aluminum end tanks for increased strength, durability, and resistance to higher boost pressures. Compared with the OEM stamped aluminum and brazed-with-gasket construction, the billet and TIG-welded design provides substantially greater pressure capability and is well suited for bolt-on modifications, higher-performance tunes, and upgraded turbochargers.
The Thermal Black Heat Dispersion coating further enhances cooling efficiency while providing a durable stealth-style appearance behind the factory fender ducts. According to CSF, the specialized ceramic coating disperses heat at an increased rate of approximately 15% compared with non-coated parts.
The CSF Ferrari intercoolers are engineered around the factory installation points, OEM mounting hardware, shrouds, and fans. High-density foam is pre-installed to seal the area around the intercoolers in the same manner as the factory units. OEM-style inlet and outlet connections allow for precise fitment with the factory components, while the integrated OEM-style fan shroud and precision-machined BPV/BOV connection help maintain a factory-style installation.
The result is a true plug-and-play, drop-in intercooler upgrade that requires absolutely no cutting, modification, or permanent changes to the vehicle.

Performance & Engineering:
The CSF by PWR intercoolers were developed to provide improved cooling efficiency without relying simply on increased intercooler size. Their ultra-efficient two-row rolled-tube core design maximizes cooling performance within the physical limitations of the Ferrari 488/Pista/F8 intercooler location.
Testing on modified Ferrari vehicles demonstrated improved IAT control and reduced heat soak during repeated high-load operation. During testing on a modified Ferrari 488 equipped with upgraded turbos, downpipes, and a tune producing nearly 700 whp, IATs increased by less than 10°F during the tested pull and recovered to their starting temperature approximately 15 seconds after the pull.
Additional testing on a Ferrari F8 Tributo equipped with upgraded turbos, an upgraded exhaust system, and Stage 3 software produced approximately 800 whp and 600 ft-lbs of torque consistently across four consecutive dyno runs. The testing demonstrated strong IAT consistency and reduced power loss associated with repeated pulls.
Testing on Ferrari 488/Pista/F8 applications has shown that the largest improvements occur at higher boost levels, where turbocharger-generated heat is greatest. The intercoolers can provide benefits on modified vehicles while also improving thermal consistency on vehicles retaining the factory engine configuration.
