Simplify the installation of your JB4 or JB4PRO tuning system on compatible G-Chassis BMW models with the JB4PRO Direct ECU CANbus Harness. Designed as a plug-and-play solution, this harness connects the JB4 directly to the vehicle’s CANbus at the ECU, eliminating the need to route a CAN/OBDII cable through the firewall and into the passenger compartment.
By connecting directly at the ECU, the harness provides a cleaner and more professional installation while significantly reducing the time and effort normally required to access the vehicle’s OBDII port. This setup keeps the wiring contained within the engine bay and eliminates the need to run additional wiring into the cabin.
The Direct ECU CANbus Harness also supports passive CANbus mode, allowing the JB4 to use read-only CAN channels for basic tuning functionality while leaving the vehicle’s OBDII port available for diagnostic equipment, data logging, MHD, or other compatible scan tools during full-throttle operation.
Direct connection to the vehicle's PTCAN also provides a higher CANbus sample rate, allowing the JB4 to access CAN data directly at the ECU for improved communication and data acquisition.

Passive CANbus Mode
Passive CANbus mode allows the JB4 to operate using read-only CAN channels for basic tuning functionality while leaving the vehicle's OBDII port available for other equipment.
This mode can be useful when the OBDII port is occupied by MHD or another diagnostic or logging device during full-throttle runs.
Important: Passive mode has limitations. Certain channels, including AFR and timing corrections, are not available when operating in passive mode.
Firmware & Configuration Requirements
This harness requires compatible JB4 or JB4PRO firmware and settings to enable the direct CANbus functionality.
For JB4PRO B58/S58 systems:
- Turn Option 11 ON to enable the Direct ECU CANbus connection.
- Turn Option 12 ON to operate the JB4PRO in passive CANbus mode.
