Description
The Burger Tuning BMS Dual Oil Catch Can Kit (Vacuum & Boost) for the 2021+ KIA K5 / Hyundai Sonata 1.6L SmartStream® Turbo is designed to prevent oil blow-by from contaminating the intake system and reducing engine performance. Turbocharged 1.6L SmartStream engines are known to push oil vapor through the PCV and CCV systems, which can coat intercooler piping, intake valves, and charge pipes, lowering effective octane and causing long-term engine efficiency loss.
This dual oil catch can system separates oil during both boost pressure and vacuum operation, providing complete protection during all driving conditions. Unlike universal kits, the BMS system is engineered specifically for the KIA/Hyundai 1.6L turbo platform with proper hose sizing, optimized mounting location, and a fully closed-loop PCV design to maintain factory operation without venting vapors to atmosphere.
The kit features CNC-machined billet aluminum cans with double baffle air/oil separation, high-flow hoses matching OEM PCV sizing, and a stealth mounting position on the cool side of the engine for improved condensation and efficiency. Installation is fully reversible, requires no permanent modifications, and can be completed in about 25 minutes using the included hardware.
The boost side catch can filters oil when the engine is under boost, while the vacuum side catch can filters oil during idle and low throttle conditions. Together they provide maximum intake protection and help maintain clean valves, consistent performance, and improved engine longevity.
