Description
This VAICO metal engine coolant pipe is installed beneath the intake manifold and is a critical component of the engine cooling system. While the main pipe is generally robust, it contains brazed connection points where additional coolant pipes are attached. These brazed joints are a known weak area and can fail over time, leading to coolant leaks.
A leak in this coolant pipe can result in reduced cooling efficiency and may cause engine overheating if not addressed promptly. Because the pipe is located under the intake manifold, replacement requires intake manifold removal. It is strongly recommended to replace the intake manifold gasket set and throttle body gasket during installation. Replacing other hard-to-reach coolant hoses beneath the intake manifold at the same time is also advised to prevent future cooling system failures.
This coolant pipe includes replacement O-rings designed to provide a proper seal at the cylinder head.
Engine Coolant Pipe Function
Engine coolant pipes transport coolant to and from the engine and its cooling system components. Over time, exposure to heat, pressure, and coolant chemicals can cause these pipes to crack, corrode, swell, or leak. When replacing a failed coolant pipe, a complete coolant flush and replacement is recommended to remove any sludge or contamination that may have accumulated in the system.
