APR Roll-Control Sway Bars are crafted to enhance cornering performance by significantly reducing vehicle body roll while maintaining ride comfort. Designed for AWD MQB/MQB EVO platforms, these sway bars target drivers who demand a more spirited and controlled driving experience. Excessive body roll compromises handling by shifting weight to the outside tires during sharp cornering, reducing traction on the inner tires and destabilizing the vehicle.
APR’s solution involves tuning the spring rate via an increased bar diameter and optimized end-link mounting points, forged from a single piece of bar stock. High-performance polyurethane bushings further reduce bar movement, ensuring consistent performance during aggressive driving.
Technical Overview:
APR Sway Bars are made from high-tensile strength steel and are hollow to reduce weight without compromising durability. Each bar is CNC-bent from a single steel bar, eliminating welds to minimize failure risks. The ends are forged and quench-hardened for maximum strength, then coated with a corrosion-resistant red powder coat for durability and aesthetics.
This model features a 28mm diameter with a 4.5mm wall thickness, an upgrade from the factory’s 24.3x4.1mm (MK7 R/8Y RS3) and 25.4x4.4mm (MK8 R) bars. These upgrades yield a spring rate of 339/388 lbs/in, providing a 65%/88% and 57%/80% increase over factory bars. The result is improved handling, reduced body roll, and heightened responsiveness.
